AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

What a mehassive cluster F+++
but don’t worry…..…

With a valid point like that it's definitely worth asking the question. After all if you don't ask you never know.

Free to sell but not free from the massive migraine everyone’s been given which is ongoing
its better than eastenders

They've got to try something to try and gain from the losses they've had on here.

Don't give them to many ideas lol. They might think about putting this on ppv as a soap.

They made big losses to vinted
who make it easy to list a item in a minute or less compared to about 5 mins on here after you’ve filled in all the micro specifics and all that horse sh it
Which doesn’t even register on searches if you’ve put “your own descriptions” which eBay allows ie blouse colour is taupe ..it will never appear in search results as taupe isn’t in ebays set list of colours in search
anyway just saying ebay are time consuming and time is something a lot of people don’t have and will go somewhere else to spend less of it but get the same result or better especially as visibility is not controlled on vinted

Apparently the seller fees are much cheaper over there too according to a earlier post so I'm guessing a lot from here are looking.

i agree and at the very least there should be a clear statement that the item is unlikely to reach it's true value because of the layers of ebay fees applied.
However I'm also starting to feel sorry for ebay as their strategy of making private sellers very expensive while the buyers were already leaving surely must fail. As buyers develop new habits of looking for (and selling) items elsewhere the ebay business sellers will see their sales further decline which must make them consider if it's really worth paying those fixed shop fees anymore...

There’s no seller fees there at all
but I think recently they allowed professional sellers on there (cos vinted is mainly private sellers) so maybe there’s fees with that don’t really know
there’s buyer fees but prices tend to be lower there than here so they’re not so bad all n all
and they have a SD equivalent but it’s not hugely inflated like here…postage is cheaper but it does all have to be tracked so if you’re a v low priced seller with 87p postage on items you’re better off here

I find it hard to sympathise for the platform because it's their own making. However I do sympathise with buyers, sellers, and business sellers who are all losing out.

Oops I got it wrong. You are right it was buyer fees. But they worked out much cheaper there.

It's true I looked at the listing page at the other place and it only has a few inputs but then when searching as a buyer it's hard to find what you really want when there are so few filters you can apply so I think there's a happy medium between being quick to list at the other place and having to complete far too many mandatory item specifics here (and correct the auto completed AI guff ones) and neither place have the balance right when listing to ensure just enough information is captured to be useful. It's probably worth asking sellers to do around 2mins of work creating a detailed enough listing.

“Ppv” for sure

Well it would be another source of income lol

Yum yum nite

So far, 24hours after E Day - eBay 0 - other site 2
Although if someone would like to purchase a reasonably priced rare, vintage, collectable book in the next 30mins ebay could claw 1 back with the added bonus of being able to report back on the SD process 👍

Lol goodnight. Maybe see you on here tomorrow.

So I looked at re-listing a couple of things tonight to see how the postage would be set and it appears they would still be listed at their previous postage rates.
But low and behold, if I re-listed them I'd be charged an insertion fee of 35p per item as though I'm a business seller.
Every time you think you're as confused as you can be, you get more confused.

I'm sure that's their secret ploy. Confuse those that are already confused by this as it will give them more time.
