I'm having problems with the new Simple Delivery. I thought I selected a up to 750g label by default as I put on a Nintendo Switch game, but it gave me 100g label - maybe it selects 100g large letter by default. With this you also can't change it after a bid has started or it has bought. You have to cancel the order, then get them to repurchase it.
Has anyone else had this issue, or it is just me?
Many thanks,
Michael

Switch games are 96 gram on average packed weight, we use double cardboard mailers which adds an extra 12 grams, so they average around 80-84 gram depending on the internals in the case without the mailer.
I didn't think you needed to select anything on simple delivery, eBay adds this automatically and then supply a label when it sells, all your listings show Evri and from what I've seen simple delivery doesn't show this?
It also doesn't really matter with tracked because the price is the same all the way up to 750 gram with RM.

Is that what SD does ??
Tells you what is the weight of your item ??
Crykey...

I think you have to put the packaged weight of the item in the listing, so the correct postage can be selected by the 'Simple' thingy...👾

In order to choose the right postage label for what we're selling I wonder if we need to package the item as we are listing it to know the right size/weight?

Yes, or least you need to know approx what the final packaged weight will be.

Nice idea but problematic if you ever get combined orders which is actually a fairly normal request, at least in some fields.
This SD thing is why I stopped my listings. If they are deciding labels based on product weight anyone that deals in anything fragile has problems.
Sure, some items are small and don't weigh a lot but if they are fragile you actually have to make the packages you send them in fortresses to survive transit/sorting among heavier items which they will be in as soon as you go past large letter depth dimensions.

'If they are deciding labels based on product weight'...
That's why you have to make sure you select the correct packaged weight in the listing.

That's exactly the problem I had with something else

I don't know what happens with combined orders. Is it even possible to do combined shipping with 'Simple'?

Well i am not packing everything up as if i am posting it to someone when im not lol i do not have the room

Yes, this is the problem - it's often not at all convenient to pack items in advance. I suppose you just have to make sure you allow enough weight to include sufficient packaging.

Hi, I could say, I had a problem as well about my items sold on eBay, when I did the listing, I did not notice this Simply Delivery and the label that I should print off or using for the shipping, so I have shipped my items as I do always, with a next day delivery especially because now for private sellers, if you want your money sooner as the item has been delivered, but I found that there is no way or is complicated to avoid this simply delivery option, many people are talking about this point especially in the community, unbelievable, I think, eBay wants push you to pass at business account for paying fee, so you leave us to listing “free” but you are forcing people to do what you want about your plans.

I've always done that anyway measure and weigh but sometimes to be quicker will do 5kg med parcel and refund if i can pack smaller (Ebay doesn't even have a 5kg parcel). Used to have packed boxes everywhere years ago not good not doing that again, but i won't be using their label anyway. It sound like it's all wrong and people are having to buy their own and lose out on postage which Ebay has been paid for

It's just you because I wouldn't touch it with a bargpole! It's overpriced for starters. RM 48 HR Tracked costs £3.39 for upto 2kgs and NOT £3.71 as eBay would like people to believe! With buyers being exceedingly savvy with delivery cost, if you're using the Simple Delivery service, I'd get ready & prepared for dings to star rating for 'reasonable postage costs' with this move along with opening the door wide for buyers to say they were ripped off with postage costs in feedback:-( Moving on very quickly without Simple Delivery - Thank you!
My question for eBay is: Why is it now that when a seller uses RM 48 hr tracked outside of using the eBay Simple Delivery option with a 2-4 day RM delivery window, as stipulated on the RM website, that if a parcel does not arrive within 48 hours, private sellers now have to wait an additional 10 days to receive payment upon delivery, even when delivery is on day 3 and within the RM remit of 2-4 days? Because that's exactly what seems to be happening in the diabolical payment system now 🙄😠 - Another payment gremlin?

I just do not have the inclination! I will stop selling when SD becomes mandatory.

There's a fair bit wrong with your post there.
Going by announcements the CEO wants Simple Delivery mandatory and it sounds like it's happening in Q2 so somewhen in the next few months.
So no choice for private sellers at that point.
Also Royal Mail do not stipulate a 2-4 day delivery window for 48 Hour Tracked. They say it is an aim. The only guaranteed delivery service is Special Delivery. Everything else falls under their umbrella programme where they allow 10 working days after something enters their network. As long as they deliver within that total timeframe they view that as an acceptable service. You find that out when you try to claim against a missing parcel. You have to wait for their operating window to close.

I send 2nd standard and just input the certificate of posting number and so far only 1 out of 22 was not marked as delivered and i was paid within the two days of delivery being marked regardless of when it was actually delivered. The 1 item not marked as delivered was paid on the 13th day. The system has been working for me (whether i like it or not)

I'd have to reread it again to be certain (the latest Simple Delivery updates) but it looked like faster payment could be tied to Simple Delivery in the future
Just waking up, so some brain fog, but that's what my memory is saying.

nothing about SD would surprise me! As i say repeatably i will be gone when they bring it in. It is so much simpler doing the postage thing myself, certainly not having e bay do it for me.
