NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

And there it is in black and white for all to see - yet another reason why sellers should be left to sort out postage themselves without any input from eBay
I use the Royal Mail App all the time and for items sent by Royal Mail 48, which all my eBay sales were, there was an option for them to bring the label with them when they came to collect.
It seems that if the purchase is made through eBay this can’t be done. So much for Simple Delivery then!
I don’t have a legal brain but wasn’t the Trade Descriptions Act created to protect consumers from being misled by inaccurate and misleading descriptions of goods and services

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I've dropped some prices on listings today in the hope I can get a few more sales through and clear more of the collection. I've been loathe to do it since I dropped prices following the removal of sellers fees, but it's the last chance saloon for me now as I'm ending my listings tonight.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

This was in an email from eBay on 31 March;

“Starting from 15 April, Simple Delivery will be the only delivery method available for private sellers when listing most items. There’ll be a few exceptions, such as low-priced, bulky items, and local pick-up, which aren’t eligible for Simple Delivery”.

However, this was in an email on 2 April;

“Simple Delivery will apply to new eligible listings by private sellers in the UK, and from 7 April to any existing listings that are eligible. If you selected buyer-paid postage, this will stay the same when your listings are updated. If you’re covering the costs, they’ll be deducted from your sales. Click the button below to see what’s eligible”.

I have listed for another 5 days from today but having reread these I shall be ending ALL today now.

Hope this helps you.

It's got to be a case of things being made up as they go along. Nothing has been thought out properly.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Just sent an email to someone I received about this, wasnt mentioned in the first email of 31 March that this would apply to listings on 15 April wards, it was stated 2 days later on 2 April that it would apply to existing listings from 7 April. My listings end tonight, have ended any with bids on and sold to highest bidders now.

That would be ‘situation normal’ then!

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Absolutely. And I want to look into if the forced BPF for buyers is really right because buyers were already protected so effectively they are paying twice. Plus the price you see is not the price a seller actually lists a item for and you don't see the BPF fee until the checkout page. Buyers should have the option to choose if they want to pay BPF or not surely.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I ended my listings yesterday and it actually gave me a feeling of relief lol. But I did put a nice friendly auto response though.

Thank you for contacting me.

I have stopped selling on Ebay for the foreseeable future after being on here for 20 years due to Simple Delivery becoming compulsory for Sellers like myself.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

So true. I go into a shop, I see a dress for say £10.99, the price I pay will be £10.99 and there won’t be an additional fee at the checkout to ‘protect’ me. If I bought anything in the past I was protected, broken or lost items were compensated by the seller. I was happy to do that, if that was the case I then claimed my expenses from the courier, simple. Nothing has changed as far as I can see except that if I wanted anything now I would be paying extra money but for the same ‘service/

procedure’ as before.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Those are my thoughts completely apart from buying a dress 😂. But it's annoying that you might see a item being sold on here for say £9.03 but when you go to buy you see that this price includes maybe £1.05 BPF surely this has got to be wrong.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

All very true.

And regarding hidden fees banned from today: when I purchase a label from Royal Mail, only service I use, the exact price I paid to RM is on the label. Buyer can see this. An extra charge between 10 p and 60 p was charged by me for packaging. I think fair. But I doubt the price that eBay pays on RM will not be visible on the SD label. Can be classed as " a hidden fee" and is banned from today.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Very true. So no transparency and a seller should see things instead of being expected to believe what we are told because I don't believe what I'm told like being told that these changes have been made to benefit sellers and buyers. That is so untrue.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Hahahahaha. Exactly, buy an item (dress or otherwise) from a shop and it anything is wrong take it back, get a refund, Trades Description Act etc. You don’t pay an extra amount in case it is wrong and you have to return it!

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

So true. Plus seeing that BPF has been added on the check out page could make a potential buyer see a seller in a bad light and so in some cases a buyer might just not bother and that could be why so many sellers have been selling less.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I am really glad that some sellers have stated on here that they have made enquiries to the proper people asking if all these practices introduced are above board so maybe it will have the effect of getting these practises looked into.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

You can put a auto response message that people get if they message you. I've put mine to last for a year exactly and you can change it or alter it if things do happen to change.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

This morning wattiesdad wrote

“I have made some draft listings, one problem I see is the value of the item. I listed an item with a buy it now (hypothetical) price of  £700 and it still quotes the standard £3 odd, though it needs to be sent as special delivery at about £12. Can't see a way of changing it, only by changing the weight will the price change, but even then, although the buyer may pay more, there is no insurance on the item.”

I think, probably without meaning to, he has highlighted the tremendous advantage that Ebays Simple Delivery is giving the genuine private seller – on items up to £750 you no longer have to worry about the risk of damage or loss in transit, Ebay are now going to be covering the entire risk. Currently each individual has to decide whether it is worth paying what wattiesdad says is £12, now they will get the cover for no additional charge.

There are of course other advantages, such as the guarantee of prompt delivery, included in Special Delivery which are not in Simple Delivery

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Small print needs to be read, there is a list as long as your arm for what is NOT protected on Evri and RM, mostly fragile, breakables etc. You will get zilch compensation for these things
