AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

It is a total utter shambles. I have 4 live listings left which have not be touched yet but I won't be listing anymore items and I am removing my live listings on the 5th or 6th of this month.
02-04-2025 11:22 AM
This seems to be happening to a lot of people.
02-04-2025 11:26 AM
I'm checking my last 4 listings daily and as soon there is a change I'm ending them. I'm ending them anyway on the 5th or 6th.

Agreed,same here,after 24 years.....
Seems this years medal for most crass and ridiculous business mis-management goes to ebay...yet again.
Someone, anyone, please correct me if I have missed something, but if my business was ranked 47th out of 47 online market places on Google, and has Trustpilot reviews of between 1.2 and 1.3 out of 5 stars(and bear in mind you can't rate it as less than 1 star),the last thing I would be thinking of would be to upset a good proportion of my customers.
Seems to me that years of attempting to halt a declining market share by increasing your fees in the face of less expensive competition hasn't worked. No surprises there, just failure by their management to sort it.
Fast forward to this latest nonsense.
In my experience, either by what is written by way of review, and just conversation regarding ebay,it seems to me that ebay is only worth using for collectable/rare/oddball items.Almost all 'everyday' items can be found cheaper elsewhere, thanks to the excessive fees applied to their business customers.Been there, had an ebay business account when I was in business, useless, not worth it,fees too high for a very limited return.
So their only decent feedback seems to come from the collectables etc.Who lists these ?.....Private sellers mainly, who can offer a bit of a bargain, when business sellers of such have the higher fees to pay.
Sweeping statements maybe, but surely indicative of a trend ?
Ebays managements answer to this, they've figured out the solution.....let's hold a gun to the heads of private sellers, and swamp them even more with smoke and mirrors than usual, let's insult their intelligence into the bargain by offering alleged 'free' sales whilst increasing the costs to both their buyers and sellers.
But we won't finish there, then let's make the posting job really difficult ,and more expensive, because that will force them to pay us more for a business account,so we can charge them even if they don't sell anything.....
Even given ebays track record of nonsense, hisorical total lack of concern for both their buyers and sellers, this latest effort surely tops the tree ?
Do they really think their service is so good that their customers will put up with all this cr*p ?
Maybe they do ?
Best of luck with it to all who stay,I'm out on the 15th .
And yes, hope they lose massively,it is what they deserve.

I think what you and I saw exposes a fundamental bug in Ebay code , which suggests that the postage fields in your listing can be changed/edited/update without your knowledge.
This looks like a significant security issue within the code as you don't know what else can be changed in your listing without your knowledge by Ebay's own systems.
In reality this should be flagged as a separate fault ticket with Ebay because it is a potentially very serious issue .
This in itself is reason why "Simple Delivery" should be put on hold immediately .
It is difficulty to keep up with all the threads as you can't reply directly thanks to Ebay ! but I may add this issue if I mail Ebay senior management again . It might even be worth a phone conversation with someone at Ebay

It's not a flaw. Their current terms and conditions allow them to make changes without notice.
Why do you think so many sellers have stopped their listings?

Absolutely love your post. For me it's been 20 years on here this year. How on earth they are still ranked the number 1 platform for buying and selling is beyond me. Like you I hope they get what they truly deserve after absolutely wrecking what used to be a great platform.

I have sent 2 emails this morning asking if they will seriously look at these policy changes and amendments but I'm not holding my breath regarding getting a reply from either person.

Yeah if ebay were being candid they should in their advertising say that it's 'free to sell provided you are willing for sell for less than the true market value because ebay will load the buyer with fees from both the buyer tax and stupid delivery'.
Ebay had earned a fair amount of my trust in the decades leading up to this year but they now seem to be run by disingenuous and misleading chancers. Such a shame.

Because of a different problem I'm having with eBay today, something just occurred to me.
Do you remember seeing any details about what timeframe BPF covers you for?
Because I don't

I like yourself trusted and believed them for so many years. Since the Feb changes and now even more new changes I can honestly say I no longer trust or believe anything they come out with. They are becoming so loathed by so many. It is a huge shame that this platform is becoming absolutely wrecked by unscrupulous management and so many things becoming so cloudy all because of nothing but pure GREED.

Wow as at 02-04-25 , 17k + Views and 470+ postings for this thread, any one would think Fleece Bay have clocked up !!😁 , Strange no Super ebay staff have got involved. 🤣

Thank you ! Tried to add my 2c worth without it seeming too ranty....
Think it is worth everyone who is, let's say 'dissatisified' to say so,not that I dispute hell will freeze over before ebay takes any notice.Replacing ebay management with half a dozen Goldfish might have instilled some sense into the proceedings, but guess that's not going to happen either 😞
Is it not just ebay that thinks they are world number one ? Looked the goggle thing up at Christmas last, lol at the 47/47.Trustpilot I checked this morning, thousands of annoyed people on there...
In the meantime, ebay gives themselves five stars.
In case it's any help,I see that Ebid offers to transfer listings directly from ebay.Am thinking it might be worth a try.I did have an Ebid account after the ebay shop disaster, but sales were actually worse, but that was a long time ago when it had only just started.Maybe it is better now,I don't know ?

I really was expecting the fleece defenders to have been posting on here in force but after going through nearly all posts I can't remember any standing out.
02-04-2025 12:44 PM
Ebid do offer that service but at a fee for their top service, think around £65 at the moment, usually a lot more it says.
02-04-2025 12:45 PM
Ok, I can see some benefit but it should be optional for the seller .. Running for cover now 😎

Strangely I have just had an email from Ebay customer service , probably about the complaint I raised on Monday but may be down to other factors. I replied and copied in senior managers again
While Ebay T & C's say than can change listing , that can only be acceptable if they do it a consistent, clear and fair manner . Letting any automated bit of software is not .
What I saw was random behaviour which is definitely a flaw .
A growing reality have is Ebay management have little comprehension of the complexities of its own platform , a recipe for disaster 🙂

lol share with the rest of us please
02-04-2025 12:47 PM
Yes strangely absent maybe they are busy reading the article in the Daily Mirror
02-04-2025 12:47 PM
Oh right, thank you.I had not got that far with it.Did see only 3-9% fees though.Must have a better look at it !
