AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I can also see buyers choosing the service they want instead of the seller. Will this lead to a "select few" choosing the cheapest and untracked option and then complaining when it "doesn't arrive" and getting a refund? Only time will tell

Both options they can choose are supposedly tracked.

This has become such a mess. I am so happy that private sellers/buyers are voicing their thoughts and feelings.

It's refreshing to see so many like yourself are looking into things seriously instead of just having a moan and grumble in the past which is something I've done myself.

I've been saying the above for a long time now.
One person complaining to Trading Standards probably won't be enough to get them moving. But if lots of people all start filing similar complaints then they may get more interested.

Hopefully this time we will as it's in the interests of private sellers/buyers and these changes definitely have and will hit those that do both.

My listings end on April 6th and think that will be me done. Iv already registered yesterday with Ebid and will investigate other sites and maybe use Marketplace too. Simple delivery is the final straw for me im afraid. Real shame as this used to be such a great site but all the recent changes have been nothing but a farce.

I hope I've not over thought this to much but eBay have clearly said its free to sell BUT HOWEVER is it ?.
They know most private sellers also buy so by introducing BPF it costs private buyers more.
Secondly, by making SD compulsory it reduces a sellers choice of who they want to use as carriers which in a majority of cases will cost sellers more because it surely works out cheaper to deal with a carrier of choice directly. So one way or another ebay are clawing back the money they lost by making selling free. After all nothing is truly free.

I looked at Simple Delivery and found it didn’t meet my needs and in many cases was more expensive. Small, low value items DO NOT NEED and are not worth the EXTRA COST of Simple Delivery.
I have noticed that many (most?) Sellers have blindly adopted it with the result that I am less likely to buy from them as an item that they were previously charging £2.00 or less for has jumped up in price to a minimum of £2.70. This plus the general price increases due to Buyer Protection Fees means I am BUYING far less than I used to. And I am not the only one judging by the way my SALES have plummeted in recent weeks!
Also many Sellers (myself included) have stopped offering FREE POSTAGE because the amount you built into the item cost to cover the cost of postage (in part at least) is now subject to the BUYER PROTECTION FEE scam.

That is exactly what I've been thinking and so true. So the end point is that these recent changes have hit those that do both sell and buy. It's so clear to see when we look at it from both angles.

The BBC Radio 4 has the Moneybox program which the presenter is always on BBC1 TV on Saturday mornings explaining what is going to be on the show that day. If you want to write to them its moneybox@bbc.co.uk

Surely the more exposure regarding these atrocious policy changes and amendments will help especially with private sellers and buyers being given the choice of like it or lump it.

This is very interesting because in these specifications, mine hits at least 3 which both evri & rm, won't provide compensation. So I need to email them leader folk.
Thanks for posting that!

I want to do the same but my articulation of this matter is somewhat confused. Can you provide text to copy and paste to their website?
Thanks in advance.

I have just completed my report to the CMA it took me ten minutes, and the online form was easy to complete, we now need more private sellers to log a report to the CMA
02-04-2025 11:07 AM
Sent to both!

I absolutely agree with your post. It conveys exactly how I feel and I agree that what was once a great platform for selling and buying has been to a platform that I am beginning to loathe.

It will be nice and interesting to see if I get a reply from either.

Me too. Will be interesting to see if I get a reply from either.

I had an auction end of the weekend, and unbeknown to me Simple Delivery seemed to have been added to my ongoing listings.
This resulted in one buyer choosing EVRI via Simple Delivery (I only use Royal mail tracked 48) which I didn't notice, so I posted it at the Post office using Tracked 48, cost me £3.95.
Can't add the tracking as it wasn't an option (posted yesterday). There was an option however to Get label, which I clicked and it auto-filled the tracking with the EVRI code, so I have lost £3.95 shipping as the buyer will be refunded the postage costs when the QR code / label isn't scanned.
eBay CS solution - contact the buyer and ask them to transfer the money to my bank.
My solution - delete all active listings and stop selling privately on eBay
