Introducing automated positive feedback... April 2025

Introducing automated positive feedback

The great service you provide to your customers deserves to be recognised. This is why we are excited to introduce automated positive feedback.

Starting late April, automated positive feedback will be added to your feedback profile 7 days after tracking confirms successful delivery, provided the following criteria are met:

  • Tracking shows the item was delivered on time
  • The buyer hasn’t left feedback yet
  • The buyer hasn't reported an issue or opened a return on their order

There’s lots of benefits of automated feedback too, including the fact it contributes to your feedback score and improves your positive rating percentage. When you receive the feedback it’ll display the message on your page, “Order completed successfully - tracked and on time”, offering reassurance to prospective buyers that you offer great service.

Something new to discuss...?! 😄

Have just been trying to leave feedback for a buyer but all I'm getting now is 'rate this item' and 'tell us about the item' comment box.  I was using a link to the old feedback page but it's no longer working.

Why would it want you to rate an item that you are selling?

Do you mean you were trying to leave feedback for a seller perhaps? If so are you sure you have not already left them feedback maybe skipping the optional rate item at the time? Which is why now the only option left is to rate the item?

Re: Introducing automated positive feedback... April 2025

So just devalue the reviews even further? Not to say that they're even important anymore (outside of eBay algorithms). I think most people would agree the reviews on seller profiles have been totally meaningless for a very long time now.

Re: Introducing automated positive feedback... April 2025

In the past when I havnt felt that things with a purchase were not quite right or the item hadnt been what I was expecting rather than leave positive feedback I have not left feed back at all.  Also with electrical items I wait to see if there is a problem befor leaving feedback 7 days isnt enough to see if an item is working and will continue to work. Now it looks like I will have to go straight to the neutral feedback so that Ebay can not give feed back I didnt want to give surely this will make it worst for sellers!

7 days is more than enough, it either works or it doesn't.

Neutral feedback doesn't affect sellers at all, it's neutral.

Just because automated feedback has been left doesn't mean that you can no longer leave feedback of your own.  You still have the usual 60 days in which to leave feedback and any automated feedback will then be removed.

Re: Introducing automated positive feedback... April 2025

Thanks for the advice I Will have to go fo negative then if I am not happy  I have only done that once or twice  in all the years I have been on Ebay but I have to say I am not buying much anymore much better suppliers without all the hassle and I wont have to think about feedback but once again thanks for the advise I will steer clear of Neutral and go straight for the negative on anything I am not completly happy with

Re: Introducing automated positive feedback... April 2025

You'll find you just get banned from most of ebay with that daft attitude.

A lot of sellers share ban lists publicly so it doesn't take long for you to get banned by all the main sellers.

Re: Introducing automated positive feedback... April 2025

Hi

When this was first rolled out, I received the automated seller feedbacks as described.

However, I have not received any such feedback for almost a month, despite the sales qualifying the criteria.

Any idea why?

Many thanks!

Re: Introducing automated positive feedback... April 2025

If  buyers can't be bothered to leave feedback after 7 days, then it seems fair for it to be automatically be classed as positive. It's a pity that this isn't done retrospectively for all sales to give an accurate feedback score, i.e. if they didn't dislike it and it wasn't broken or not as described, then they must have liked it.

If there is an issue with feedback for sellers to leave, it's that other that the buyer has paid as soon as they make the purchase there's little else to say. Even if I wanted to say, 'buyer made purchase and then didn't pay for a week' I still have to leave positive feedback. Feedback for buyers is not really relevant.

Then It's up to the seller to ensure the customer is pleased.

On ebay, your selling happiness, not product!

Re: Introducing automated positive feedback... April 2025

I agree, failure to leave feedback is just sheer laziness and ignorance.

I pride myself on my selling service and always leave feedback immediately.

So for me, this is great!

That doesn't respect that some of us choose not to leave feedback on certain transactions.

It's not a failure and it doesn't come from laziness or ignorance.

It's a choice we make where the seller had not done very well but not badly enough to raise a case or give then a neutral or negative feedback. Ebay no longer respect that choice. They have little respect for anyone these days it's just about commercial advantage sadly. The world needs more respect and consideration.

For some buyers who never leave feedback then I don't believe they are obliged to under the ebay terms so it's not lazy to do something that's completely optional. Is it lazy that I never pay ebay for promoted listings as they remind me most frequently to do so? Should I review every product I buy online? No these are just choices.

Re: Introducing automated positive feedback... April 2025

Sorry but my items were in perfect condition, exactly as described, posted same day and comms and feedback done immediately.

So to me, the return courtesy of feedback would have been welcome and taken a minute to do!

Automated feedback increases my rating and is a good feature.

That's great if that's what you consistently do as a seller but some other sellers post very late, package poorly, don't mention defects, etc and for those orders where it's annoying but not worth raising a case or damaging their feedback history some of us  decide to leave no feedback and so on those occasions it's not true that "failure to leave feedback is just sheer laziness and ignorance" it's a choice we are making that's not being respected by ebay.

Re: Introducing automated positive feedback... April 2025

Not all sellers leave feedback - so have a go at your fellow sellers instead of buyers.

And if eBay are going to leave automated feedback anyway, what’s the point of any buyer wasting their time to do so - except to leave negative feedback?
