Funds pending – awaiting delivery - Why has this suddenly started?

Hi,

I've been using eBay for 24 years now and I have never had a 'Funds pending – awaiting delivery' show on any sale.

For some reason this has shown on three items I have sold over the past couple of days, when everything else I have sold over the past couple of months has been fine and payment has arrived as usual.

These are physical items, not digital, and I've been selling for 24 years, so why all of a sudden is this a thing?

thanks

Sam

In that senario i would contact Ebay CS and see if they could mark the item as received and have my money released 2 days later.....IF they agree then you would not have to wait the 14 days.

Re: Funds pending – awaiting delivery - Why has this suddenly started?

I've started a new thread for the idea for eBay to offer a faster payment option..

It is called:  "eBay needs an Express Same Day Payout Option"

Feel free and welcome to post your thoughts there too to support this idea if you would much prefer eBay to offer a faster payment option ?

It’s hellish I have been waiting ages for funds and I send very quickly feels like this is the start of the slow death of eBay

It's the same for me and other users too.

Having funds held until something is delivered isn't great. It's the extra 2 or so days for processing that is so frustrating. Before the change if I sold something one day the funds would be processed and available that same day or the following day at the latest.

Re: Funds pending – awaiting delivery - Why has this suddenly started?

So the actual reality is that I sold 3 items a week ago totalling £30. Around 7 days later I get £8.04 made available to me. I can’t even see my funds on eBay anywhere, though this is erratic and sometimes I can see it. Currently I cannot. I cannot see what sales the allocated £8.04 refers to. Imagine having a bank account where you cannot see your funds! I cannot monitor or track what I have earned.
This is a shambles, and out of all the changes eBay has made, this is the one thing that makes me really annoyed. I am currently looking at alternative sites to move over to.

Re: Funds pending – awaiting delivery - Why has this suddenly started?

Same here, ,I called in eBay arguing with agent.

I had a feedback on  one order, payment from eBay was still pending for 2 weeks.

This new policy from eBay is not working out for us.

My issue is even when delivery gone wrong or there is cancellation the buyer is still covered under eBay Policy.

Their lawyers needs  to advise eBay  on this.

Very confusing as of Feb 4th.

I really urge eBay  to reflect on this decision and really tighten up the payment system if going back is not an option . There’s years of customer base built up that could all drift away if they are not careful

Re: Funds pending – awaiting delivery - Why has this suddenly started?

Very well explained, thank you, answers all my questions. I sell bespoke greetings cards and thought that I was in clover when ebay said I could sell for free. £3.25 a card and I get all of it but now I see the buyer is having to pay more and I am being bullied into sales promotions. I use 2nd class standard post, anything more would kill the sales anyway, so there is no tracking or delivery notifications. And I have to wait at least 14 days for payment. What makes me laugh is the fact that they keep asking for feedback on all the little tweaks they make to the system and I reply to them all but I guess given their developers level of competence they are overloaded with complaints and that’s why they can’t get on with putting the system right. I’m done with ebay, as soon as my current stock is gone so is my ebay account. Thanks for listening.

Like many others complaining about the changes, you should have a business account,

if you were properly registered, the changes would not apply to you.

Do I need a business account?

If you plan to sell casually, such as selling items you no longer want, a private account is the best option.

If you want to sell large quantities, if you have items that you've made or bought to resell or if you already have a business outside of eBay, you’ll need to register a business account.

Re: Funds pending – awaiting delivery - Why has this suddenly started?

I'd actually challenge the legality of ebay withholding a sellers money, the release of which relies on outside influences! It's blatantly obvious that Ebay are offloading the risk, back onto the sellers! The Royal Mail has become increasingly more incompetent in delivering AT ALL, let alone within the terms of their Universal Service Order, to which they have recently had a second fine for failing to adhere to.

So when an item never arrives to the buyer, they get the money back from the seller through ebay. The seller is then out of pocket, until the postal service , accepts responsibility and eventually pays. And ofcourse, thats only if they accept responsibility at all.

My other issue is, that this latest clause, actually becomes an impossibility for private sellers, if not all.

In ebay's selling template section "postage, collection, returns and payments", under "dispatch time", the default  clearly says "Will usually dispatch within 3 working days of receiving cleared payment" .  So,,,in theory the buyer COULD WAIT UP TO 72 HOURS to pay.

But if the payment DOESN'T CLEAR till after delivery has been confirmed,,,that's a direct contradiction to the dispatch clause?

So by the terms and conditions in ebay,,,,how can i send out something, thats not been paid for,,,but i don't get paid till its been delivered?

Re: Funds pending – awaiting delivery - Why has this suddenly started?

Exactly my concern. From what I understand, we (sellers) only get our funds when delivery is confirmed by the courier used (Royal Mail in my case) but not all items receive the final ‘doorstep’ scan. What happens to my funds when this happens??

Click the link and read the final paragraph

Changes to when you get paid

As of 4 Feb, funds will typically be available in your eBay balance 2 days after delivery.

But if delivery isn’t ’confirmed’????

Re: Funds pending – awaiting delivery - Why has this suddenly started?

It's always a minimum of 2 days after confirmed delivery, for private sellers. eBay have been saying that can extend to 14 days without proof of delivery but the way they are processing things that may actually end up being 16.

Did you click the link and read the final paragraph which states:

For untracked deliveries, or tracked deliveries with no delivery confirmation, funds will become available 14 calendar days from the order date

Re: Funds pending – awaiting delivery - Why has this suddenly started?

It's all automatic 2days after delivery means about 5 days if tracked some of mine are coming through. Untracked is 14 days until end of month then items under £10 if a feedback given will be paid out in 24 hours. Things above £10 don't have to be confirmed at all or even below but without feedback it will still be the 14 days. My payments are showing the day it's due to go into available balance.

Re: Funds pending – awaiting delivery - Why has this suddenly started?

Think about it.  EBay have clearly had an external auditor review their finances.

Step 1. Advertise free sales (no revenue)

Step 2. Introduce buyer protection fee (recovery of sales revenue)

Step 3. Hold onto sellers money, eBay has an enormous bank account, they can float ‘our’ money on the stock exchange.  Attract masses of interest. (Recovery of sales revenue!)

Meanwhile, seller has dispatched an item, in theory at a loss, paid out postage, dictated to when the money will arrive in their bank account.

i have been using eBay since 2003 when cheques were a thing!  This intervention will discourage people selling on eBay.

it needs to change.
