Sorry if this has been covered but there are so many comments on various threads I couldn't find the answer.
Does anyone know what will happen to the final price of items listed before Feb 4th but active after the change date?
Will the ebay system increase all the BIN prices automatically or will it only apply to listings made from that date onward? I found this on the seller pages "For UK-based private sellers, the Buyer Protection fee will immediately be added to all existing Buy-It-Now listings (excluding Vehicles, Classified Ads, and Property). The fee will be added to Auction and Buy-It-Now listings created on or after 4 February, 2025, including relisted listings."
I have read several times & I find it contradictory. Firstly saying it will be added automatically to existing & then to those added on or after?
Is this just a very clunky way of saying all listings, existing or new, will have the fees added after the 4th? Of course ending all and relisting before 3rd could give 30 days grace & I expect they have made sure that cannot be done.
Many thanks everyone.

But that contradicts the written guide "The fee will be added to Auction and Buy-It-Now listings created on or after 4 February, 2025, including relisted listings."

It is a clarification on that bidding process is not created on. so not the same thing at all
If you have a live listing and some one bids before the change no fee will be applied KEY WORD is BIDS.

My existing list prices haven't changed. Maybe they will add the fee on at the checkout.

Ebay has announced that it will now be a phased rollout:
'Starting from 4 February, Buyer Protection will be live to give buyers more peace of mind when shopping on ebay.co.uk. To minimise any potential disruption on our platform, the Buyer Protection fee will be gradually rolled out across items listed by private sellers, starting in Electronics and coming to all eligible categories in the following weeks.'

How do you know that? Have you bought an electronic item that should have been part of buyer protection?

Bad day at eBay towers yesterday:
I wonder if there will be any back peddling on the BPF.

@valueaddedresource
From the link Jo gave:
"UK private sellers were supposed to have their payments held until after delivery starting today as well, but it's not clear if that actually happened amidst all the other hubbub and chaos of the day."
I sold 2 items yesterday (private seller) funds for both are available to withdraw today, so it looks as if that hasn't worked either!

@ruby*ryan thanks for confirming! At least it's a bit of good news that you apparently have gotten a reprieve but the lack of communication from eBay on any of this is just inexcusable.

FYI - eBay support on X/Twitter is now saying Buyer Fees have been postponed until February 6th.

Just the same. My last two auction items. Absolutely no change in procedure, that was last night.

Hi, I am a buyer only and I also do not like this new policy. I do buy from business and private seller and very rarely I have had any problem in 19 years + I have been on ebay. Anyway: I had a few items from private sellers in my watch list before February 4th. They stayed the same price on the 5th and th 6th.... I even tried to put one of them in my basket to see if I would have been charged any fee, but the price stayed the same....Very strange move from ebay....

make some changes to when you could access your funds on the 4th that still
hadn't happened as of yesterday,it would be great if they were to do a U
turn as the fees that they are going to charge buyers will put a lot of
people off

yes, it would be really nice if they would u turn. Even if I am not a seller I find that the idea to pay a private seller after delivery is confirmed is totally wrong. As a buyer at time I do buy very low value item for my hobbies... I just do not like to pay 75p + 4% or similar for something so cheap with the excuse of buyer protection which I believe it has always existed since I starting shopping on ebay in 2005.... I did speak with a customer service guy last month and I said I didn't like anything of their new policy of keeping sellers waiting for their hard erned money and buyer protection fees (copied and pasted from Vinted 😡) this last has always existed for free and to me this look more like mafia style protection fee.... ( I repeated this about 5 times to the customer service guy who in the end gently answered me : I wouldn't call them so) Then again that is my opinion. Good luck to all the private Seller, let's hope in a u turn
