I don't find it that hard.
I start with the basic premise that most of what they say is bs and their policies are as clear as mud.
That means they are hiding stuff.
So ignore what they say and look for what is missing.
& a slight correction to my previous post. We aren't breaching that contract. We are making eBay breach that contract.
That's actually worse because it makes them liable for claims.
& it looks like eBay are organising the whole thing so we can't really avoid breaching.
Seriously effing sneaky.

eBay UK Sellers Say Post Offices Refuse Simple Delivery Packages With Incorrect Labels
Interesting comment from one of the Post Office staff re auditing & refusal of incorrect SD (or any) parcels. Half way down the page.

That got in the news quick! Thanks reading now...

I just did a late night drop off of an ebay item to my local post office and the postmaster was on shift and there was nobody else around so we had a chat.
He said that he hadn't had any problems recently with ebay parcels at the wrong size / weight. He had not been told of any changes coming up and he was still instructed to check the size / weight of items he was taking in. The conversation even caused him to doublecheck my item but it was fine as the label was from the old system.
When I told him that ebay had AI that was going to guess the size / weight of items without the seller being able to type it in it blew his mind. I then told him that ebay were going to charge ebay sellers more for RM labels than the standard price and I think he might now suspect I have a late night drinking problem.

Thanks.
Wow, doesn't look good for ebay, especially with the very probable sh*t storm about to kick off with simple delivery.

I think they very much do have the *bleep*

Don't know if you saw my amendment in the other post but it's actually worse than I initially saw.
We aren't breaching. We are making them breach, which makes them liable to claims.
& if I'm not mistaken they don't even need the buyer to complain to come after us.
The fact they are in a position of liability by our actions is sufficient.

'Wow, doesn't look good for ebay,...'

Good.
I hate to sound vindictive, but I'd like the bosses of ebay to feel some pain.
Just to make up for the pain most longterm ebayers are feeling about the death of what was a (usually) comfortable and reasonably easy place to sell on your old clobber.
I'll miss it.

This was posted on one of the other sd/po threads by warmyn-81:
'I have this evening managed to speak with the manager of my local post office. I mentioned simple delivery and he has informed me that he has now received infomation regarding incorrectly sized and weighed packages.
What follows is straight from the horses mouth so to speak.
Hi mate … yeh it’s a weird one … we have been told any marketplace sellers that regardless of size weight etc post office can accept them ! However the label will say ‘marketplace seller’ so to make it clear the ones we can accept … had one the other day 3kg package, label said 500g small parcel but also on the label bottom right said ‘marketplace selller’ so we accepted it then RM sort it out with eBay! It’s a change just recently come in about couple weeks ago to help customers avoid delays in getting stuff sent out....
So it appears that as long as your postage label says 'market place seller' the post office will accept them and RM will be dealing with feebay for any discrepancies.
If this is true then it would appear ebay have sorted an agreement with ebay. Maybe when Marco stated earlier that the PO's must accept. he may well have been correct but not party to all the information, i.e. 'market place seller' on the label.
If ebay could for once actually launch something with all the details required by the service users there would not be so many worried sellers etc...
Once again I got this info from a post office manager so hopefully this info is correct.'

Here is an example of the postage labelling showing 'Marketplace Seller':

This exciting opportunity will involve "managing and enhancing eBay's reputation"
Jesus that aged well then.

@sebastian4ever my favorite part was the bit about looking for someone with experience preventing high impact media coverage....particularly since eBay is still tied up in civil litigation over the last time they became overly concerned with that. 😒

What an utter *bleep* storm. They deserve everything they get.

That's an interesting read and from that I pulled out this worrying quote (s).
The cashier said they would be refusing all SD items with immediate effect.
So, you use what Ebay insist on, Post Office won't accept it. What a bloody shambles.
Concerned sellers broached the topic in today's weekly community forum chat with eBay staff, only to be told repeatedly that the Post Office must accept these packages - despite their personal experiences to the contrary.
I'm envisaging standing behind a seller with a collection of SD labelled items all underpaid and insisting that eBay will pay the difference. My money is on the PO winning that fight , and not accepting the items.
03-04-2025 6:56 AM
If, as a buyer, I have to pay a fee (surcharge) for the item to be delivered to me, that doesn't bode well for any future purchase from any Private Seller - in other words, no further purchases made by me on eBay.
And if I refuse delivery, does that mean eBay decides that the item has actually been delivered (due to my refusal to pay extra) and I might only not get the item but lose my money as well?
Is it now possibly unsafe to buy from Private Sellers on eBay?

Perhaps Marco could share a screen shot of The Agreement
Then anyone affected could take it along to show the post office staff, in case they refuse

the big question though is - is the agreement with the post office or RM and is it catered for in any agreement between PO and RM direct? E bay are renowned for not actually saying the whole truth.
03-04-2025 8:01 AM
Marco (or any e bay rep) says what they are told to say!
03-04-2025 8:02 AM
yes, lets all quote an agreement that we have not seen ourselves! Are you really that naive?
