Well finally after changing the format of their selling platform it seems every couple of weeks you have come up with the ultimate level of stupidity with this latest total ridiculous set of changes. Nobody is going to wait what could be weeks to be paid for a item they have sold who ever dreamt up this idea much be so far from reality as needing to push every part time seller off the site. I knew when they came up with the idea of free selling it wouldn’t be long before the idiots that run eBay came up with totally and ridiculous idea to claw back the money they have lost the whole senior management team at EBay must seat round a table all wearing clown costumes saying what is the most stupid idea we can come with to really get rid of half of our customers and the biggest clown wins with this idea and all the other yes people follow. Well I had started selling a few bits again but never again and will not be using EBay again to sell anything it has become a total joke of a company I hope your poor and flawed decisions finally catch up with this once great place to buy and sell has become a total joke.

Why's it such a big issue for you if you have to wait a couple of weeks for your money? You could always feel free to sell elsewhere.
Alternatively you can take the approach you are suggesting, which would inevitably lead to you no longer being able to sell on eBay, thus meaning you no longer make any money at all from eBay.
Another option is to no longer list anything for sale on eBay, thus meaning you no longer make any money at all from eBay.
You're sure showing them!

So nothing to lose then as eBay seem to control us and prevent us from making any money anyway...
As for waiting for money... 5 - 10 years ago we never had to wait for eBay sales money - It was there INSTANTLY in your PayPal account balance for you to use... Why now we must wait A LONG TIME before receiving our payments for sold items because eBay want to cut corners to boost their profit ?... So really the service eBay provided to their sellers was 100% BETTER 10 years ago then it is now ??... So much for improvements ? Eh ?

Keep crying. Perhaps eBay has had to fork out a lot of refunds for messed up orders sold by private sellers over the years and no longer wish to do something? Holding funds means any issues that arise in that timeframe can be dealt with using your on hold balance. Again, I don't see the problem. Like I said, you sure do spend a lot of time here for someone that is so done with eBay - never make a penny here again, that will really show eBay!

If it's not an issue for you then I'm happy for you. I admire your tolerance.
Again, my position is I would not ship an item without having the payment in hand. I'm a private seller, I don't rely on eBay for money and under current conditions I no longer care if I can use the site in the future or not. I have nothing at all to lose by following the advice I have from support. Buyers can simply not buy if they don't like the terms of sale on my listings.
Why is this such a non issue for you?

So if you don't rely on eBay for money, I don't see an issue in waiting a couple of weeks for a bit of money that is ring-fenced for you. It's not going anywhere. This is you just throwing your toys out of the pram and stamping your feet like a toddler.

So are you an eBay shill or just a troll?

I liked it better via PayPal

but we never had to wait before. Why are we now having to wait around for money now ??, especially when the UK interest rate is now more !.... seems a bit iffy to me...

Tell you what, I'll leave you lot to it.
Keep on defending eBay ! lol

Probably best not to feed the troll. I've just looked and this muppet has been registered since 2019 and has not a single shred of feedback.
If it was an eBay shill I'm sure they would fake some feedback so I guess its just a troll.

Maybe a lot of private sellers have deliberately scammed people and closed their accounts leaving eBay to foot the bill? I don't know, you'll have to ask someone that makes decisions at eBay as to how they came to that decision.
Maybe it's a measure to encourage private business sellers to move to business accounts and genuine private sellers are getting caught in the crossfire. Who knows.
New business sellers have had this restriction imposed and it's worked fine for a number of years.

Now that makes sense.
Otherwise why is there such a massive downgrade by eBay?

So another thing that you don't understand is the existence of posting accounts?

That wouldn't explain defending this. Really, it's indefensible.
04-02-2025 3:53 PM
I'm not really sure how you find it so indefensible. I've given you at least one possible reason as to why eBay might have implemented this policy.
Do you go to work and tell your boss you're not working unless he pays you the same day?

Back at you.
If you are happy to ship without cleared payment then go for it.
