When simple delivery is made mandatory for private sellers will the process be as follows:
* Purchasing buyer chooses the postage option they want i.e. Royal Mail or EVRI
* Buyer completes checkout, buying the postage from ebay
* Ebay sends the postage label to the private seller
What if a private seller does not have a printer to print the label that ebay sends them?

Im sorry but i can not find the Post where this fragment of the Simple Delivery was part answered.
In the case of a lost item
Am I right in remembering that ebay pay the buyer for the lost item, from ebay funds? (presumably what should have been sent to the Seller).
Where does the Seller get compensated for the loss of their product?
Currently we claim from the shipping company, but as the wonder process excludes the seller from this transaction, then the shipper would rightly not enter into any communications over the claim. Its hard to imagine ebay actually engaging in this problem , but its them who made the contract and should be legally obliged .
The same would apply to damaged item in the mail as the Buyer receives the item. This historically is more complex.
One advantage is that ebay can view a buyers history on claims and as such make a judgement, sellers have often sought this information along with true feedback for years.
Sorry for asking you - but ........ .

The seller has sold their product. They get to keep the proceeds of that sale. (why would they need 'compensating' after they've sold something to someone else?)
The buyer is now the 'owner' of the (now lost) product so they get their money back from ebay *itself*.
The seller will have to wait until the missing item case is sorted out, but they *will* get their sale money in the end.
Apparently 😈...

Now you really are confusing me! As i understand it SD has not become mandatory for ANY catergory yet. It has not even been officially announced that it is indeed becoming mandatory. The Feb 10th date was for the increase in SD prices for those who are opted in to use it.

you are giving out wrong information, it is not coming in for any catergory yet!

Sorry i took it that ebay were holding the funds of the transaction ( a lost item then at least 14 days) ?

Im not sure about that, are you saying that despite not receiving the item it has become the buyers property ?
Thats a major change to the current situation where an item is the sellers until another player has taken control (ebay and the shipper say, under the new set up)
The seller will have to wait until the missing item case is sorted out, but they *will* get their sale money in the end.
And as ebay are the body who engaged with the shipping agent- then only ebay can resolve the lost item legally.
Apparently
Hmmm

I think someone got Buyer Fees mixed up with Simple Delivery along the way.
One is here, the other not yet.😀

Maybe I'm wrong but I always thought ownership changed hands at payment so it's theirs as soon as they pay. Why the sellers have a duty of care to get their item to them as it was described at sale.
Which leads to not as described claims.

Does Simple Delivery assume that all private sellers have a printer?
Yes and will add smartphone (and one that can run the latest updates)

'( a lost item then at least 14 days) ?'
--------------------------------------------------------
I reckon a lost item will probably be nearer 30 days. ☹️

Yes, a major change. Up until now the seller has been responsible for the item (even when it's out of their hands with a shipper) until the moment the buyer actually got hold of it.
Now, with Simple Delivery, ebay are taking responsibility for the item as soon as the seller hands it to the shipper.

'And as ebay are the body who engaged with the shipping agent- then only ebay can resolve the lost item legally.'

Yep, ebay bought the shipping label, ebay has to deal with the shipper! (and I bet they have an easier time of it than us proles trying to get through to evri etc!)

are you sure about this ? some ebays fantasies are remotely do able - but this surely encroaches upon law.
Just because ebay say its 'Simple Delivery' doesnt mean the world stops ???-
So all this mornings packages i sent out, then as soon as the Post Master took them from me, then thats my bit done and forget any incoming claims from buyers?
nope cant see that alas.

It's probably just a new sales strategy, making the water as murky as possible so nobody knows where they are going.
Not too dissimilar to how well written legal contracts work. The point is to generate confusion.

Happy to help !
Found this under eBay's help page for Simple Delivery:
Your item is fully covered against loss or damage during transit from the moment it's scanned by the carrier until delivery confirmation.
😊

Items are protected against loss or damage from the moment they are scanned into the carrier's delivery network until they are marked as delivered by the carrier. In the event that a buyer raises a claim for an issue that occurs during transit, you'll not be held responsible.
Does that answer you query?

"as soon as the Post Master took them from me, then thats my bit done and forget any incoming claims from buyers"
Careful, now you're making it sound like SD's main selling point. 😀

Buyers need postage and price refunding , seller needs the items value refunding ( That bit is highly debatable as to if the sale price , or what the seller paid originally?
Your item is fully covered against loss or damage during transit from the moment it's scanned by the carrier until delivery confirmation.

our item is fully covered against loss **or damage** during transit....Thank you tressy.
That's answered one of my questions (dunno why I didn't spot that bit myself 🙄)
Now I'm just hopping and down for the 'restricted' lists..😆

If you read the wording they use it does suggest they are referring to the buyer, not seller.

Helloo again sorry for delay, lost internet for a mo !
Well, I found this bit of info!

That help page is ambiguous I agree !
Found this tho!
@andha-21Yes, if you use eBay's Simple Delivery service in the UK, you are generally protected as a seller if an item goes missing or gets damaged during transit, as the protection covers the item from the moment it is scanned into the carrier's network until it is marked as delivered; meaning you wouldn't be held responsible for issues that occur during shipping.Suppose without the word ' generally' in there we'd have a more accurate answer !! 🙄

That is actually different to the ad they have that looks like it's aimed at the "seller"
Where did you find that one may I ask?
