I sold a item and posted it out to the buyer via Royal Mail Tracked 48. Before sending it out i had a chat with the buyer as i had noticed the postal address looked like a business address (Industrial warehouse) despite not being market as such on the customers address and i wanted to ensure someone would be available to accept it and not reject it upon delivery. The buyer informed me very confidently that Royal Mail deliver there all the time and there would be no problems.
Today i have been informed that Royal Mail tried to deliver the parcel twice (two different times of the day) and "there didn’t seem to be anyone in", they will attempt re-delivery again on the next working day. How do i stand if the buyer continues to not be in on delivery of the parcel? i have messaged the buyer and kept them informed so they have no excuses of not being aware of the parcel plus its all track and traced. The last thing i would want to do is have to issue a full refund and then be out of pocket the £5.09 for the delivery cost due to a bad buyer.

That could well be that..... And the buyer goes out of pocket.
Yet the right thing to do is to just refund them when it comes back to you and block them from ever buying from you again.
Had this happen to me and the item came back to me a month after dispatch damaged probably from the amount of times it had gone round the postal system. The buyer wanted me to pay & resend or refund. I'm doing neither as both myself & RM have met our obligations & the buyers not covered by eBay money back guarantee plus they were rude & demanding. Lesson here is take delivery or pick it up from sorting office 😀
Just bear in mind that if you don't refund the buyer can still file file a chargeback with their payment provider.

this has happened to me as a buyer, my parcel had to be delivered to a different address that is not my home address but the resident was not in, I received an "attempted delivery email'. I cant seem to find any info on how to find out where your package is, it just says track package but that takes you nowhere, just tells you there's been an attempted delivery again. how are you supposed to know where your package is so you can collect it before its returned to the seller?

I sold a BT Disc for over £40 , I sent it via Simply Delivery and two days running the buyer has failed to take delivery . If a seller fails to dispatch 9n time we get a black mark against our account yet buyers does not get punished in any way . I have messaged the buyer but have had no responce . If Ebay reads these boards is it not about time they sort this crazy payment system . Buyer has just contacted me they are not likely to be at home tomorrow either , If he does not have a safe place to leave it royal mail will not leave it

My buyer is keeping his fingers crossed because he is going to out alot tomorrow what he fails to understand royal mail would have delivered on day one if he had a safe place to leave or 8t could have been delivered to a neibour on day one had he requested . My feeling is royal mail will leave a card tomorrow and then it will be in the hands off god when he will be bothered to collect it from the local delivery office . Have spent 3/4 hours pointing this out to a very nice and understanding customer service person but at the end off it he still is unable to release my money . They are even now asking you at the begining your call do you mind if the conversation is being recorded which tells me they are getting alot off flack at the moment . But they are all reading from the same script , the guy I was talking to lives in Albania so I fail to understand how he knows how the delivery system works in the UK.

Royal Mail usually only make 2 attempts to deliver. The recipient then needs to either collect from the sorting office or rearrange delivery for a day that suits.
