Buyers receiving empty boxes? New Scam?

So these are all simple delivery parcels however I have had 3 people saying that the parcel is empty.

Because it's simple delivery it is dealt with by eBay but is this a new scam exploiting simple delivery?

And at what point will this possibly impact my selling account?

Re: Buyers receiving empty boxes? New Scam?

earlier posts says books are £30 - 50 so of course they are worth scamming!  We are not talking £3 here.

Re: Buyers receiving empty boxes? New Scam?

**UPDATE** So the case for damaged parcel was closed by eBay in my favour no refund for buyer. As you can imagine the buyer was not happy and then opened a NAD case and requested a return. He asked eBay to step in as I said he had nothing to return.

eBay result he was refunded fully by eBay and I have no strike on my account.

Both me and buyer are confused about what has gone on.

It had to be someone who knew what book was inside so the obvious culprit is the buyer.

That doesn’t quite make sense.  Did they originally open an 'Item not received' claim rather than 'Arrived damaged'?   If they opened an 'Arrived damaged' return request originally then it wouldn't have been possible for them to open another return request for 'Item not as described'.

Re: Buyers receiving empty boxes? New Scam?

There's a scam going on with high end phones. Ive ordered 2 iPhones this month. They not leaving the postage point. None of the  phones where delivered. They using eBay simple delivery service. They saying accepted at parcel shop or dropped off at locker but the tracking does not move from there. They then claiming for the item as lost. Ebay is getting a bad name. I suggest video taping yourself opening parcels in the future. Ive had an envelope with nothing in. It Was meant to be shampoo and conditioner  in a brown envelope. They would not have even fit in an envelope. So yes there are sellers that send empty parcels.

Re: Buyers receiving empty boxes? New Scam?

The item should be weighted. This would tell them if the box was empty. Ive been with ebay 20 years and I've had one empty package. Since this simple delivery has started. People are either not sending stuff or empty packets.

Re: Buyers receiving empty boxes? New Scam?

It's terrible. Ive had one empty packet and 2 phones not left the parcel shop or locker. They have found the fault in simple delivery and are claiming for lost items. Items that they never even sent.

In my case it was 2 phones.

Re: Buyers receiving empty boxes? New Scam?

Ebay should get sellers to send high end items to an eBay sorting office to be checked and verified the items are in the boxes and eBay can then send them off to the buyer.

It's gonna cost eBay but I'm sure they are getting scammed daily. Buyers should take a video of the parcel being opened. I video all my parcels being opened since I got an empty package.
