In one particular thread about 'Simple Delivery' which I've been active in over the past few days, the suggestion has been made that someone - ie., me, an eBay member of 25 years - should start a petition.
With seemingly thousands of posts in numerous threads from members extremely displeased with both SD and the closely-associated BPF - which effectively replaced the 'Sellers Fee' that we all used to pay - perhaps it may be an idea to consolidate the strength of feeling in one place?
So, here it is - the closest we can likely get to an actual petition on this board - and please, keep it simple.
If you object to the mandatory implementation of 'Simple Delivery' and would like it either scrapped altogether, or made optional so those who wish to can use it - please simply post:
Scrap SD
or
Make SD Optional
And as the 'Buyer Protection Fee' is having negative impacts on us as sellers (and buyers, which many of us are too), and would like eBay to revert to the old 'Seller Fees' system (none of us can reasonably expect this platform to be run for free) then please simply post:
BPF - Revert to Seller Fees
Unless you only wish to register an opinion on one or the other, I don't see any reason why both SD and BPF cannot be included in single posts.
Maybe, if enough of us make our voices heard in one place, so the powers-that-be can see clearly, they might - just might - listen. Over to you.

Make SD optional
The BPF should also made OPTIONAL.
The choice of protecting the purchase should be entirely down to the buyers, as the choice of couriers should be of the sellers. At least give the sellers the possibility of adding tracking to the sold item and show the address of the buyer in order for them to purchase their labels of their choice.

Look up what the BPF actually is. It is just a fee for ebay to cover their costs and make money.
How do you suggest ebay make money on these transactions? The answer could be, revert to Seller Fees - but there has to be some fees associated with the order. Otherwise ebay make a loss on that transaction. There will never be optional fees at a basic level.

For years eBay had an offer of 80% off seller fees. This meant that many low volume sellers took advantage of this and placed their auctions with very little cost. eBay then stopped the seller fees and ALL private sellers could take advantage of selling at no cost. THAT didn't last long ... did it? Now all private sellers are having to reduce their starting prices otherwise sales just drop off as buyers are seeing the prices being hiked by the Buyer Protection Fee that does not protect them any more than the insurance covered by the couriers.
Any wonder customers are a tad miffed?

I know and agree what BPF is, the thing that does not make sense is why advertise Sell Free on eBay, and then add 4% + £0.75 on top of the price of the listing.
4% makes a big difference to the asked price and most of the time, the seller will have to take the 4% placed on top of the item`s price off the price itself to be able selling the price.
Charge the private sellers the 4% and stop claiming it is FREE to sell on eBay. Marketing does not cover the actual facts...
How many buyers on eBay are aware that I only want £10 on the item and not £10+4%+£0.75 and that the 4%+£0.75 are going to eBay?
Marketing says otherwise...
On top of that, add to a Tracked 48 small parcel another £1, who is going to notice???
You recon that these have anything else to do than with the profit margins? I personally believe that the business should do business, I do not wish anyone to lose anything, but stop trying to cover-up fees and pressure the private sellers. To me this looks like "my way or the highway, who else is going to have you?".

one major flaw is how many business sellers trading as private sellers will respond?

You mean like a Business Seller account? Why not try it?

What just happened?! Within the last couple of days, the BPF on most or all of my listings has reduced. I've spent hours over the last few months adjusting nearly all my 400+ individual listings so that the buyer sees the same price as before, e.g. changing £9.95 to £8.72, and suddenly the BPF has dropped from £1.23 to 70p, so the buyer is now seeing £9.57. Ebay may say this doesn't affect sellers, as we still get the same, but we are very much affected by the price the buyer sees. Has there been any announcement? I've received no messages other than yet another invitation to pay them extra to "promote" my listings. Even some original listings for recent sales have been changed, so are now showing completely bogus information!! Does anyone know what's going on?

Make SD optional. After 20+ years on ebay I find it is no longer worth the cost and trouble to list anymore

Scrap it all and go back as it was before and make every one happy

I've not been attending to my listings for a few months so today was the day that I found out about this simple delivery scam. They didn't even send me an email. All my lisitngs arfe messed up - they have been telling my sellers for months that the postag is for a small parcel, for a 400g comic. i sell comics for a few quid, always under 500g, now I'm forced to double my postage prices. *bleep* ebay every single f'n change make this platform worse for private sellers. Does anybody else know where to sell comics?

This is even more of a joke - I can opt out for graphic novels under a tenner but can't opt out for comics under a tenner - even though the comics weigh less. So I can send a graphic novel as a large letter through royal mail for half the price of a comic. good work ebay.

So did I, a couple of hours *after* seeing the results. There was no need to keep it secret until it had happened; this is no way to treat us, their customers.
