simple delivery

hello every one I have read the new postage simple delivery  for small private sellers like me and I am very concerned its going to be ebay who decides what courier they think I should use, and even more concerned the buyer will choose .this is hermes evri the worst couriers I have never known, I am selling my antique dolls and send them the quickest and safe with my choosen courier .fully insured and next day delivery which I have done with my items for over 17 yrs. I charge my buyers a set amount but if my box and packing goes over I pay the extra for peace of mind. and the thought of them being sent via hermes evri scares me and I would not trust them with a teddy bear, ebay must let me choose my own courier but I am told I have no choice, antiques no matter what must be sent in a manner they deserve and the simple delivery is not . simple delivery is just that for clothes shoes and not breakable .not for antiques and items of great value, I have had my dolls for over 50 years and simple delivery is not going to happen, I do not want to leave ebay but I will take my antiques some where else, so many great sellers have gone, but ebay does not take the time to ask why. ebay must look after the private sellers like me but I doubt it .the big boys are more important,

Re: simple delivery

That makes no sense we have to know how much the label is as we list say
Royal Mail £3.55 .so they must take at least £3.55
If it’s cheaper they keep the change that’s being underhanded and dirty
tricks so total say £103.55 then we get £100 so what you are saying eBay
takes money from us does not say how much is needed and gives us the rest
.thats disgusting

Re: simple delivery

yes ebay pocketed the difference on my one SD sale. It was only 35p but that would have covered my packing materials and transport costs to the Post Office. Bunch of crooks. So now if I want to cover my packing materials etc I have to increase the item price!

Re: simple delivery

That's how eBay has always been and always will be. They are trying to get rid of the smaller sellers because HMRC has been on their case regarding all the sellers that do not pay any tax on earnings. Remember, if you sell more than 30 items or make more than £1700 (whichever comes first), you must declare it and eBay (as of Dec 2024) are notifying HMRC regarding all those sellers reaching the threshold. This is a headache for eBay so it's easier to get rid of us. ALSO....... Ebay or it's mother company has many shares in EVRI...... Think what you will. Corruption stinks remember.

Re: simple delivery

That happened to me too. They already made me use SD for 1 item on Monday, even before it all apparently started! They pocketed money from me too, they are onto a nice little earner here

Re: simple delivery

I thought eBay said they will seek out the private sellers who sell under
the radar .to HM tax services who buy new sell new when they should be a
business seller
Us private sellers who sell there own items second hand and collectables
toys etc were not in there lists .even if this is the case I have over my
yearly amount before I pay tax anyway and selling as a small private seller
it’s nowhere near

Re: simple delivery

If you put a glass vase for sale how can ebay determine the postage cost because there is packaging to consider too, size and weight some glass vases can be heavy . That is why the Post office are rejecting so many .

Re: simple delivery

what is happening is disgusting behaviour .I spend loads on bubble wrap
tape and bag or boxes for my lovely items to get safely threw the postal
nightmare .now I have eBay skimming off my postage ok might be a few pence
or pounds but it add’s up
I put a free post on my listings to allow me to send with my chosen courier
and free to my buyer .but eBay popped up saying seller will pay £18.85 .it
might only be £8 what I would pay at the post office then some one pockets
the left over that’s a lot of money for what ? So that’s buyers protection
tampering with labels .It can not be right to let them get away with this
.but we have no choice .anybody would think with live with a dictator who
says jump disgusting

Re: simple delivery

Also, the glass vase will be on EVRI's NO COMPENSATION list of items. So if it gets lost or broken.........Not their problem.

Re: simple delivery

I've just listed 5 items. All mine are free postage as I incorporate it into the item price. Then I can choose who I use (for the time being at least).

Re: simple delivery

I have said this time and again, anyone who thinks they will be compensated for fragile items forget it. Just read the email about SD and read the links that tell you what is covered and what is not, you will find that most things ARE NOT covered for damage or loss no matter what eBay says. You will be out of pocket if your things are lost or broken

Re: simple delivery

Evri are market leaders in lost. I'm waiting for an item I purchased on 22/03 with delivery estimated for 27/03. Evri received it on 24/03 and then it disappeared. Evri's AI customer service has been useless. Tracking has finally updated today so hopefully they've found it.

Re: simple delivery

I am scared out of my mind I am a small private seller who has collected
dolls dolls stuff and many collectables .and have sold many of my girls to
lovely buyers using my trusted courier next day delivery fare post and
never minded paying a little extra if my packing went over the price
charged
I can not use SD because there are rules on how much is insured disgusting
terms and I can only insure for loss .thats fine with my trusted couriers
but for gods sake I am not sending my dolls by Evri and my boxes are long
. My dolls will get lost my collectables will be too .and as usual get
smashed chucked over the wall
What will us Dolly people do ?

Re: simple delivery

Simple delivery appears to have limits on parcel sizes. As I read it if packages exceed the below sizings then they are not eligible for simple delivery.

Simple Delivery is available for eligible listings by private UK sellers listing on eBay.co.uk (including the eBay app).

To send your items through the Simple Delivery programme, your packaged item will need to meet the following requirements:

  • Weighs up to 20kg
  • Dimensions:
    • For an Evri parcel shop drop-off – no side exceeds 120cm in length, the volume is no more than 245cm. To calculate the volume, add together the two shortest sides and multiply it by two, and then add the length
    • For a Royal Mail parcel shop drop-off or collection – dimensions should be up to 61cm x 46cm x 46cm
    • For locker drop-off – dimensions shouldn't exceed 66cm x 41cm x 38cm
  • £750 or less (Buy It Now price, auction starting price or reserve price)

Re: simple delivery

The help pages doesn't say anything about outsized parcels and what to do with them. But I'd image that for anything ineligible the seller sorts out their own delivery, but that needs to be clarified by ebay.

Re: simple delivery

Scratch my last I've just seen this.

In certain cases, if your preferred carrier can't accept your item, we'll provide you with a label for a carrier you've opted out of in your settings. For example, if your parcel exceeds your preferred carrier's size or weight limits, we may send your item with an alternative carrier. For more information about carrier options and postage rates, see our Simple Delivery Seller Centre page.
