Did you mean:

Simple delivery or silly delivery

Ok

Private seller

No printer

Unable to go to post office

Being forced to use the eBay app and their new "simple delivery"

According the the Help page, I would be able to arrange a collection from RM and THEY WOULD BRING A LABEL

but have just been told by an operative that this is not the case. And they'll just come to collect.

There were no boxes to tick to say bring a label.

Obviously you can via the RM app.

So now that means, I can no longer sell my stuff on here.

Resist the urge to tell me to buy a printer. That's not the point. If someone couldnt afford to do so, they'd be stuffed.

What a ridiculous rules. And obvious that eBay hasn't done any user testing/gap analysis on this new "simple" method.

Re: Simple delivery or silly delivery

When your item is sold you generate the QR code on eBay and then you can book collection on the Royal Mail website.   More info:
https://www.royalmail.com/collection
If you don't have a printer just select their "Bring my label" option when booking your collection online or via their app, and your postie will bring your labels to you.

Also when listing remember to opt out of using Evri so the buyer has to select RM - here:

Re: Simple delivery or silly delivery

Him that's not what the eBay instructions say. How do you generate the qr code in the eBay app please?

Re: Simple delivery or silly delivery

You buy a postage label through the app and select the QR code option.  Then it's sent to your email address or via the item order details.

Re: Simple delivery or silly delivery

Which app? eBay or RM?

eBay instructions say this, and I did it all through the eBay app 👍

Instructions on eBay app say this (which i did):

Booking a collection

If you have a Royal Mail label, you can book a collection on eBay. Royal Mail can then collect your item and also bring the label for you if you don't have a printer. You'll need to book the collection before you create your prepaid label. Here's how:

1. Go to Orders in My eBay.

2. Select the order you'd like to book a collection for.

3. Select Get prepaid label.

4. Choose the date for the collection.

5. Select Book collection.

Re: Simple delivery or silly delivery

You get the postage on ebay and then book the collection with RM.

Re: Simple delivery or silly delivery

Not true. You can book the collection via eBay app. That's how I did it.

Inputting the tracking number into the RM app lets you also book a collection for 30p but not with an option to bring a label.

Re: Simple delivery or silly delivery

My hope is, when they come to collect Tuesday they'll bring a label by default, as it defaults to that on the RM app. Will report back.

Re: Simple delivery or silly delivery

UPDATE

postie turned up, no label

He showed the machine to confirm no notification to print one

Reported to eBay who said they'd message another team and to arrange a new label and collection.

In the meantime, I've sold something else and will have the same problem.

Thanks eBay.

After I've sold and posted these two things, think I'll be shutting down my account and look elsewhere. Facebook or something...

Re: Simple delivery or silly delivery

EBay have been supposedly sorting the bring my label option for the last 3 months! Why is it taking them so long? Amazon can do it, so it is possible. I had to return something to them this week, I selected Royal Mail and bring my label. Postie collected next day with a label. Come on eBay!

Re: Simple delivery or silly delivery

My postie just arrived with my label. First time trying this.  After reading all the comments I hadn't much hope of it happening.

Re: Simple delivery or silly delivery

Eight months down the line, it's still happening.  I've found that if you go to "print a label" and you get a page with three options with coloured graphics (the right-hand one being a post office van), if you click "arrange a collection", it seems to work (though it gives you no choice what day the collection is on - usually the day-after-tomorrow).  But if you go the other route it takes you to RM website where it actually says "Bring My Label" on one page, but this changes to "print label at home" on the checkout page.  And your postie turns up to collect, without a label.   Absolutely ridiculous.  Sold five items recently, and have had to get the in-laws to print out three of the labels, and drop them off for us.  That's not ********** "simple".

Re: Simple delivery or silly delivery

What device are you using as that sounds nothing like what I see? I’ve booked dozens of collections through SD and apart from one where the app glitched and I ended up with 2 tracking numbers/labels it’s been fine every time. It always gives me next day for the collection unless it’s after 9pm, then it’s the day after. You can change this to next day on the RM website though.

On the app I click the banner above the sale details to book postage, confirm that I want a collection, then click get postage label, job done. I then receive 2 emails. One confirming the collection that you can then use to change the collection day if you click ‘view your collection’ and another with the label on, although postie always bring mine with him.

Re: Simple delivery or silly delivery

Update.

When I wrote the above I was on an android phone and using the app.

Past two weeks I relisted a few things and sold them. Using a MacBook it works.

All I get is a screen, I can change the weight/size of the parcel. Then click book collection and a date.

Then get label button.

Postie arrives and brings a label.

I don't get emails confirming anything. But its worked 9/9 so far.

Re: Simple delivery or silly delivery

Exactly. EBay is definitely against users (especially sellers) using the apps on a phone. Get a PC people. You can do so much more on eBay with a desktop.

Re: Simple delivery or silly delivery

The app works pretty well for me on my iPad but there is a lot more you can do on the seller hub if I log into eBay on the safari browser. No need to fire up my laptop.

Re: Simple delivery or silly delivery

i guess there are more options for business sellers as regards collection and perhaps this is SD a way of persuading those hiding as private sellers to do the right thing as buying to sell.

The platform is worldwide so the audience is massive.

many shops and garages take evri parcels so not just limited to post office.

I believe now sd is being extended to lockers.

I guess if one is housebound then this could be a problem for both selling and getting stock.

Have you tried other platforms?

you could always offer collection in person but I guess that limits sales to just local.

Evri print labels in collection point shops. Just take your smart phone and upload the qr code issues at sale of item.

I see almost a thousand sales, have you always had RM collect?

Re: Simple delivery or silly delivery

My other comments here have since highlighted that the SD seems to be much improved and it now working. Bringing a label etc.

I wasn't housebound as such, but WFH and a full time carer for my dad.

Glad they've finally fixed it and it works. Selling was always about collecting Vs space Vs knowing when to move things on. It's a loop. And COVID meant lots of time to build up collections of things.

Buying to sell has never been my thing.
