Is it just me or does this "simple" delivery just make life hell. Nothing on this site works properly and its so frustrating.
The simple delivery feature keeps giving me postage labels for Royal Mail, despite me opting out of Royal Mail delivery and choosing to only use Evri. Then when I go to void the postage label to reprint it under Evri, I cannot do so, it says "this shipping label cannot be cancelled". Then I have to contact ebay, whos advice is to cancel the order and start again.... what on earth?
I wouldnt have an issue with using royal mail, but I am selling games, and the simple delivery keeps defaulting to a large envelope, which Royal Mail will not accept when I put games inside. Also I do not want to package valuable games in an envelope, they will get destroyed in transit.
Ironic, because ebay talks about how you should package your items well, yet cheaps out on your delivery label.
This site is so ancient. Why cant i set up a preferred delivery method... job done. Instead I will now be having to change the delivery manually on every listing, rendering simple delivery less than useless. Its actually a detriment to my shop. This wouldnt be an issue if it wasnt the default "simple" option.
Im sick of cancelling orders because ebay cant figure out after 30 years of business how to package a playstation game, which is one of the most popular items on ebay, its hardly like they dont know. They must have had this issue and complaint millions of times over.
Before you press print postage label, you have 0 indiciation of who or what the postage label will be. And then once its printed and you see it, you cant go back. In fact once youve purchased it, you cant even check what postage it was (large letter, shoe box etc). So your only option is to go to the post office, have them scan it, to tell you "sorry, its too big". And then have to just cancel order. HELLO EBAY? ARE YOU OK?
This wouldnt be so bad if ebay werent advertising it in a way that says "we've got this, you dont have to do anything, you can rely on our delivery system", which is simply all lies.
And I just cant fathom how ebays advice with this issue is to cancel orders. Its beyond a joke, imagine amazon saying they had to cancel your order because they accidentally paid for the wrong postage label... **bleep**? Surely they can void it and redo it properly on their side. I dont care paying extra. Just let us print labels. Whats the issue? Bizzare relic of a website that operates on its own special terms that change by the day. Rant over 🙂

Currently you can opt out of Simple Delivery, I would recommend this and then you can select the postage service you wish to use, and enter the price you wish to charge for P & P.
We are told that Simple Delivery for Private Sellers being put back from Q1 now to Q2 , but no further updates for this to date. I'm certainly not using it, until forced to.
When creating a new listing here's how to opt out:
Click on Custom Postage option, this is next to the simple delivery option on the listing on the right hand side, and it should allow you to then select your postage options.
The above is when using a PC / laptop , sorry I don't use the app but imagine it must be in a similar place.

Just opt out of simple delivery by revising your listing...Select 'Custom Postage' and put in the one you want at the price you want...Good Luck

Yes everyone knows this, but when you have 100s of listings and you have to change the delivery manually on every single one, its a huge waste of sellers time. Just let me save MY default postage and then automatically use that forever unless I say not too. THAT would be simple delivery. This entire system makes 0 sense and is losing us all money.

I am fully aware you can set custom postage when listing, thats what I usually do. But when you have 100s of listings, it suddenly becomes a huge time sink to be manually changing every single detail yourself. If I could just save my own postage settings and use that forever more, there would be no issue. But I cant. Even though my items are all the same, I have to manually enter everything every single listing. Its just pure incompetence on ebays part. Dont offer a "simple" service and implore people to use it when it only serves to cause detriment.

Fixed it for you:
Simple delivery is an unnecessary - and complicated - development!

eBay are the worst conpany in the world for making something that works really well and then changing it, making it more complicated. They do it ALL the time. If there was a comparable competitior I would move to them.
Drives me nuts!!!!!!!

its just another garbage system implemented without thought... and solely so they control the money flow.
avoid it!
Ebay are you listening? Just another system of yours that doesn't work!

They can’t even implement it properly
one day one thing works, next day it doesn’t, when it does something else doesn’t work , those that shouldn’t have it at all have their listings changed without being told etc etc
I reckon they haven’t decided whether to make it mandatory
it’s a dogs dinner
whoever is running the show has got problems

The new boss is running the show looking for any way possible to keep the shareholders happy, and then there's the expense of the business day out at Royal Ascot, sponsoring a Formula One Team, the deal whatever it is) for preloved clothes with Love Island. I think after the people in it wear the clothes for free there's a big charity auction. So many irons in the fire that makes us little minnows invisible

You are right Smart. These new Simple Delivery options limit your choice of shipping and couriers. I like to have control over what company and service I use. I do not like being over a barrel with the one single choice of shipping going though ebay. Its ok with the global shipping program where where packages are going the port of ebays choice in the UK. After it leaves the port they deal with it going abroad and its out of my hands. This new idea of a single delivery option are a recipe for disaster. I bet it will be more expensive as well using this method. They are not doing this as a favor for sellers. Now they have dropped the ebay sellling fees they now want to cash in on the postage via the simple delivery option. I still want to use the courier of my choice its my right as a seller to do this. There needs to be a choice. How far away would the drop off and collection point be to use this simple delivery service, or would a courier come to your house to collect my packages is another question.
