Simple Delivery compensation

Just to say that I only used once, so far so good.

However, some items I sell are more than £200, and I don't I feel comfortable using just Royal Mail 24 or 28.

After double checking with eBay's CS, I was told that:

*Royal Mail Special Delivery isn't provided.

*if a parcel is lost or damaged,  the courier will cover it all if via Simply Delivery.

It sounds too good to be truth, coz in that case,  I don't need to use Special Delivery and there's no need to worry for some worse case scenarios. However, I still have doubts because I asked 2 CS persons to send me the link of T&C. They promised and yet didn't. I found it a bit tricky, because even RM Special Delivery only covers £2000 or £2500 at maxium. Some luxury items, say a Rolex or Hermes would pass the limit easily.

Does anyone know where I can find this T&C?

Thanks.

It's Apr.7 today, and I just listed a few items(value under £750). It's looks like SD can be turned off, and you can 'switch to advanced options' to choose other couriers and sevices.

I think that's wishful thinking that SD is no longer compulsory.

You are correct that we're told existing listings will be changed automatically today, the 7th,  but you posted at 2.12 a.m. today, and in CaliforNIA eBay's HQ,  it's still evening on the 6th.  So it may be a few more hours here,  before we see that auto change on existing listings.

I will not be able to check as I've removed all mine , but waiting now for later in the day,  when I'm sure there'll be in an influx of questions regarding why  postal services / prices have changed on listings. 🤔

Re: Simple Delivery compensation

i live rural I only have a part time little local village post office so no other courier delivery is available to me without driving 10 miles to nearest town.

We will just have to see what happens. When the same sort of changes happened on Vinted, many sellers in your position complained that they were rural and could no longer post but sadly nothing changed.

Re: Simple Delivery compensation

They don’t care about that. Evri are a joke all round. A lot of postcodes are either so expensive, talking UK here too, or they don’t go there, I.e. the highlands

Re: Simple Delivery compensation

No, it is on new listings today, 7th, that is why I am on here reading about the problems. We are now restricted to RM and Evri, disregarding sellers availability to take to drop off point. Where is Yodel?

Re: Simple Delivery compensation

I’ve untoggled EVRI I only use Royal Mail as nothing else near me and I’m not driving 10.6 miles (one way) every time I need to post an EVRI at local town.

Re: Simple Delivery compensation

not on my draft, there is no choice except to turn off RM or

Evri in SD, no option at all to choose your own courier.

Re: Simple Delivery compensation

you are ok, RM is always available unless you turn it off. You can turn Evri off in your account, postage choice is listed on the left, click and you will see the 2 options we all now have.

Re: Simple Delivery compensation

There is under your own settings. Then postage preferences and it comes with "simple delivery" and you can select RM and/or EVRI. Then when you create listings they all only show Royal Mail.

Re: Simple Delivery compensation

I actually called eBay twice last week to double check the SD compensation limit.

You might already have this experience already: eBay's CS is generally bad, and they would give different reponses each time. I was told that 'SD will be compulsory', but' the seller can always have advanced options'. I felt confused, so I said 'how can I have other options if SD will become compulsory?' The CS replied 'you can choose not to use it(SD).' 🤔

Therefore I think what the CS wanted to say was SD will be the default setting, and sellers always can opt it out. And it seems it's been proved, as I just tried to list an item after Apr.7 Cali time, and I could opt SD out.

Simple Delivery isn't fully mandatory until the 15th.

Re: Simple Delivery compensation

Ok. I just contacted eBay again.  According this CS person:

*Right now is just the test version. Their IT is working on it. The final version will come out on 14th.

*For listing over £750, 'switch to the advance options' will show up, so sellers use their own methods.

*If sellers don't want to use SD, they can click on 'collection only', and then change to 'postage only', so the 'custome postage' will show. Then we can do it the old way. However, I found this very confusing. It's not user friendly, and what's the point to make something mandatory and then say that there're other options?

Re: Simple Delivery compensation

Its is so difficult to know what we will actually end up with. It seems that customer service don't know either and are just saying whatever they believe at the present moment.

In all honesty if they include the postal options I need in simple delivery like 'Royal Mail small packet 48 tracked' and special delivery for higher value items over £150 then I am quite happy to use it.

If they don't  have these normal and usual options, then I guess I will reluctantly jump through whatever hoops there are to get to the custom choices.

I just wish that the 'IT people who are working on it' would have actually consulted with the sort of sellers who use the platform regularly before deciding what we should have.

Re: Simple Delivery compensation

Now a follow up to my advice message 5 minutes ago.

If you do NOT want eBay to dictate what label / service you want, then you need to do this. Unfortunately, when I listed my 2200 items, I never put in weights and sizes but they were all under 2nd class so I crossed that label bridge once someone bought an item.

I am now going into my Seller Hub, where I can change MULTIPLE listings at the same time and I am changing all the 0-2 kg items to Royal Mail Tracked 48. This will then dictate to eBay what label they have to supply me.

I'm off to do it anow and then we will see.

I purposefully just sold a small figurine to a friend of mine who lives round the corner as I wanted to see what happens with the label. All my items on eBay (all 2221 of them) are under Free Postage so wanted to see how eBay would *bleep* that up. I went to produce a label and it is exactly the same as it was a week ago and a month ago. Clicked on Shoe Box size and then went down to 1-2kg, then lower to services and put the dot in RM Tracked 48.
Cost for my label is £3.45 so absolutely no change at all. YET.

Re: Simple Delivery compensation

I never use ebay labels but had a look at it and yes they are the right price apart from letters ,  & no 2nd class parcel prices are right for RM so why is the SD test run showing higher prices ? and wrong sizes ? and if switch to SD  would the label be the higher price, ( whos been a guineapig and are you compensated for doing this test )
