I selected parcelforce 48 for my parcel, buyer was supposed to pay the postage fee which they did but when it came to selecting the label for the postage the price for the postage is much higher. I had to cancel the order as postage costs was far too high. On royal mail website the price is exactly the price I had orginally selected in ebay but now ebay have charged a higher postage fee which was not what i had selected, it is incorrect on ebay. I lost a sale.

Yes, eBay do push their own postage page. So newcomers to eBay may think its the only option.

Put it down to an early lessen learnt.

Book all my Parcel force direct. Works for me + live chat , and emails with them are quite 

reponsive if you have any queries. Well that`s my experience.

You also got a defect and might get negative feedback for cancelling

 

Why didn't you just buy the correct postage label from the Royal Mail website? You don't have to buy your postage from eBay

Thanks for this helpful info. Yes I thought eBay postage was the only option and I did not know how to go to another courier website to buy the postage. 

 

For the future, how can I stop eBay from taking postage fees and buy postage online from another courier instead?

No the buyer was not from Scotland or Northern Ireland. 

 

I offered the buyer the option to collect or have it delivered. I choose the delivery option but when it takes me to the label section that is when the price is so much higher than what I had originally chosen. And there is limited option to change it to other providers.

Please be aware that Parcelforce will NOT collect an item bought or sold on EBay from your home. I had a stressful time to get in touch with them only to be told they do not collect EBay items.   I finally got a phone number from The post office which was 0344 209 6109

Yes I regularly run into that problem.
As eBay now went free to all sellers I suspect they can't be asked to fix this bug.
Only option as previously stated is to buy postage direct online with Parcelforce/Royal Mail.

Hi everyone,

Same thing happened with me; we ship costly and fragile items all over the world, so quality packaging is vitally important, so we signed up with a professional packaging company in Manchester. For an item priced from £150 - £2000 we charge a shipping fee of £15, which we pass on in full to the packaging firm (materials & labour) then we pay the cost of Parcelforce 48H tracked through eBay, which comes to £8. this has been our route since eBay offered shipping labels, was quick, and only cost us the £8 we had to subsidise. I have to say, I could never the quality of packaging they provide even if I tried, (images available)

Now, even though 90% of our items are listed with Parcelforce 48H tracked, when we come to purchase the label, that option has (without any heads up from eBay or Parcelforce) now disappeared, and replaced with Parcelforce 48H (large), which costs twice as much

We reported the issue to eBay 3 times, issue was escalated twice, and not a single reply from eBay

The frustrating thing is you are never allowed to talk to the relevant department dealing with the specific issue; instead, you talk to someone in some flung away location somewhere in Asia, and once you passed the language barrier, you realise that that person is either totally ignorant of the subject, or simply lying to get you on the phone! How sad has eBay become?

I have a return and the seller has sent me a Parcelforce label and eBay stated they would collect my parcel from my home.  I did not have any luck trying to arrange this with Parcelforce so I emailed them and they replied they did not collect if it was a prepaid label but would be happy to collect if I bought another label through them!

Hi Everyone,

           I shipped all my items by Parcelforce 48 H tracked, and have done for more than 20 years, eBay no longer offers me this option when I purchase my label, the option simply vanished and is replaced by Parcelforce 48H over-sized at almost twice the cost!

No one at eBay seem to know whether this is a malfunction on the page, or eBay’s arrangements with Parcelforce have changed, and that offer is no longer on the table for sellers

Spoke to a number of eBay C/S agents, and it is the typical situation where they have no idea what is going on, and they simply talk a load of waffle to get you off the phone!

Can anyone here help please? I hate to increase the cost of shipping on my buyers, particularly under current economic climates

I had reason to return a not as described car seat to the seller last week 10/5. eBay provided a Parcel Force Express 48hr label. Took parcel to local Glasgow Post Office. PO agent scanned label and provided a PO certificate of posting with PF Tracking code.

I expected delivery to be 13th May, no tracking info available not even a confirmation of dispatch on eBay or the PF web site.

Contacted eBay over last 2 days eventually managed to talk to eBay CS how advised it shows item not dispatched even though I have a tracked cert of posting.

Went back to PO who advised PF had taken parcel but can't remember when. Went straight to local PF depot in Glasgow.

Agent at PF depot in Glasgow advised item (Child Car Seat) had just arrived at delivery depot in Newport and admitted there was no tracking available to show where the item has been since 10th May.

This is now 16th May and I have no idea when this return parcel will be delivered to the seller.

I have lost all confidence in the eBay tracked item return process. 

I have also spent an inordinate amount of my time trying to get information from eBay on where this item has been in this eBay  - Parcel Force contracted service. Absolute nightmare. Needs sorting out EBAY.

Surely this issue lies with the depot in Glasgow where the item is sitting , and out of eBay's hands to correct its onward journey.

 

If you do wish to speak to eBay Customer Services,  if the matter is still not resolved say in a couple more days, contact CS only very first thing in the mornings when the lines first open at 8 a.m. on weekdays,  and 9 a.m. on weekends,  as there's more chance of Dublin answering.

 

This is the easiest and quickest way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

Thanks for your input.

My understanding of the eBay - Parcel Force Contract return process is when
the PO agent scans the return label on the item the PO system (Horizon)
starts the return tracking process by printing the Cert of posting for the
sender.

The PO system also sends PF notification that there is a parcel (Express
48hr) with a specific tracking code waiting to be uplifted at the
identified Post Office.

eBay is subsequently notified the parcel is dispatched via the PF tracking
system. The sender should also receive an email from eBay confirming that
the parcel is now in the Parcel Force tracking system.

Once in this eBay - PF contracted tracking system the sender's
responsibility ends until it is received by the intended recipient
confirming goods are intact and correct.

I'm fairly new to sending larger items on Ebay - most till now have been small to medium size boxes which I can send through normal royal mail / evri etc.

 

I need to send them via parcelforce, but reading the above, can someone please let me know what the buyer does when the win the bid in terms of creating th

 

ie. I go to parcelforce website and calculate the cost based on weight and dimensions, then put this in as the cost of postage on my sale.  When the buyer wins, how does the postage label get created to make sure it's the right amount for the size / weight etc?  Hope the question makes sense to someone. 

 

Just reading the above where buyers are being charged higher by parcelforce compared to what they should be and don't quite understand the process - so just some friendly advice from experienced sellers would be really appreciated

Hi, 

 

After phoning PayPal, Parcelforce which wasn't easy may I add. I found out Parcelforce does not collect parcels from your home for eBay sellers. You have to book the collection on the Parcelforce website for the item to be collected and updated the tracking number on eBay by clicking edit next to the tracking number section. It is not easy going through the process especially when it's your first time. 

 

I have done this for the first time today and I am waiting for Parcelforce to collect my parcel for delivery. I also know the parcel is covered should anything happen.

Parcelforce tracking has not been available since mid March. That was the last time I used it and it caused so much grief.  Unknown to me it was delivered the day after posting but parcelforce tracking said it was still at the hub. After endless emails to parcelforce they asked the tech dept to mark it as delivered.  Finally, it showed as delivered on my page and  instantly my funds were released. This whole process took a week and a half.

I now refuse to sell anything big that would require parcelforce posting.

It is not worth the worry.
