NO LONGER ALLOWED TO POST ANYTHING OVER 61CM LONG- WHY EBAY?
just got off the phone to customer service agent-
the powers be have now removed custom posting and although evri, a designated ebay sd courier, allow a max of 120cm, ebay say no.
this will curtail many such as those selling fishing, drain rods or curtain track.
perhaps this just applies to private sellers!
be interesting to hear if business sellers get different treatment.
back to being a really unpleasant seller experience

hi and thanks,
spent time following the instructions to the letter.
yes the £800 price input does bring up posting options and yes those all do appear in the preview.
preview is not live advert.
However, once i change input to my selling price, £27.50, the postal options dissappear bringing up the simple delivery options.
starting at £100 i increased price by 100 and the sd stayed until the magic £800.
none of my items will be £800
Rick has yet to confirm his experience of his £800 sale using that method.
simple delivery is the only method and as i said, I like it.
this new 61cm rule just means I move those long items to other platforms.
Only ebay will know how many will walk and how many sales they lose but as we all know they will find a way to get those loses back by sticking up fees impac ting on all.
Feeds on here talk of a rise in a fee from 4% to 7% just in the past month.
as I said, i do not buy to sell, full time carer for past 15yrs for eldely mum, giving up my joinery business, so no time to do anything else.
passing in july 23, at 96, the race is on to clear the estate, my workshop, tools, collections etc as i have no option but to downsize. once complete my days of selling on here will be over

When you say it goes back to simple delivery when you put price back down, are you looking at the banner in blue at top of page that says simple delivery? Because although it says that, if you scroll down the oversize and custom delivery seems to stay to choose your delivery method.

hi and thanks,
is it my old pc, win 10, is it my browser, firefox? only starting up the new win 11 will give the answer.
just run the rick process again and enclosed screen shot of preview. Interestingly the parcel size inputed as 80x20x20cm has been changed to collection only. Last night it stated evri tracked. once that price box is set to a figure less than £800 then postal options dissappear replaced by Simple delivery.

hi and thanks,
I dont believe for one moment there is anything to fix regarding a workaround. This has been planned, designed and implemented by ebay, they do not want parcels more than a certain size. I dare say the time will come when sellers will not be able to use the platform unless they buy ebay parcel boxes, small, medium and large. Other couriers do it. Who knows, ebay just may have a plan to use drone robot carts, arrive at door, pop your parcel in, lock the cover, and off it goes to a hub. There will only be so much ebay will take from courier losses. lets face it, drivers are self employed, do they really care about parcels, no, they are paid per parcel. Spoke to one evri driver and yes, they prefer the smaller parcels as why take one large at 30p when that space can earn so much more with smaller ones? Speed too, look on youtube to see how parcels are thrown from a distance.

A last couple of attempts at getting you to follow the workaround:
I notice that your screenshot earlier shows that you have selected postage or collection instead of postage only . Why? Of course your listing will show collection if you select it contrary to the workaround.
Follow it step by step exactly, until you do you will never succeed.
Have the page with the workaround detached from the browser so that you can easily compare what is there with what you are doing wrong with your listing.

Let me again explain the process available to me on my win 10 pc.
sell item, input £800.
scroll down and the preset parcel size is set 45x35x16, this i can change, set to 80 x20 x20
now i have to choose the service and of the options in my drop menu the royal mail special delivery states parcel size of 61x46x46. 0-20kg.
THERE IS NO OPTION TO CHANGE THAT SIZE.
Choosing RM special delivery 1 day 9am i then input price of £10 ( the £800 sell price still set)
see preview screenshot.
NOW BACK AND UP TO CHANGE PRICE OF £800 TO MY £27.50 AND EVERYTHING IN POSTING HAS CHANGED TO SIMPLE DELIVERY.
THE OPTIONS YOU HAVE ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO ME. I DOUBT THEY WILL BE WHEN I SWAP TO MY NEW WIN 11. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE TEAM HAVE CONFIRMED THAT OVERSIZE PARCELS HAVE BEEN DROPPED.

are you a business seller or private?
upload a screenshot, with time and date, of the posting options in the drop menu you are seeing.
enclosed option avaliable to me, all the rm state parcel size of 61cm
there is no option for me to opt out of simple delivery, nor would I like the service its just the removal of the oversize.
£750 is the change over for me, below that and all postal options are removed, replaced by sd

@cheekychippy210 Is this similar to what you've entered with the price at £800?
(don't list the item) and when you change the price back to £27.50 this?
24-07-2025 10:13 AM
and don't do any browser refreshes, the page should just show those options.
24-07-2025 10:37 AM
If you deal with Evri direct and a parcel is over weight/size they may indeed charge you £25. However under Simple Delivery it's the difference in cost plus £1.
24-07-2025 11:10 AM
do we know who is the £1 from, evri or ebay?
24-07-2025 11:17 AM
just tried the post only option, preview at £800 and the £10 special del shows.
Press the go live and the posting option has be been removed!
edit, change back to £27.50 and simple delivery is default!
there is no workaround.
please try and do a live advert and post your findings.

as much as you want to believe i can opt out of SD i cant, nor thousands of others, perhaps you have a special agreement with ebay. Again are you a business seller or private? two accounts?
upload a screen shot, with date and time, of the RM special delivery posting options offered to you.
24-07-2025 11:25 AM
upload a screenshot, with time and date, of a live advert, make one up with the £800 post only, you can delete.

I really cannot get my head around why he cannot follow instructions here! He keeps doing things contrary to what has been said. Everyone else can do it.
