There are many posts about postage Tracking issues and Ebay seem to blaming problems on courier side but in my experience as a buyer the tracking issues are on Ebays side.
Example 1. Late December 2024 I made an order which Ebay tracking info for order in Ebay app led me to believe item had been despatched, posted and had estimated delivery date of 28th-30th December 2024. When the parcel did not arrive like indicated i used the tracking number on couriers (Evri) website and the full tracking history revealed parcel had not been received from seller yet. Ebay tracking info told me courier will update new estimated delivery time when they catch up with backlog. After messaging seller telling them that couriers website is saying they have not received package from seller yet they assured me I just need to wait a few days as the courier is just busy, completely ignoring the info on couriers website and relying on info from Ebays side.
I waited a few days and Ebay tracking info still hadn't been updated with new estimated delivery time, so I checked Evri website again and the tracking history had not changed, still waiting to receive parcel from seller. So messaged seller again. They refused to act on information on Evri website and relied on the misleading info on Ebay side telling me I should wait a few days more.
So I waited and still no updated estimated delivery time on Ebays side and still same info on Evri website- parcel not received from seller yet.
So i messaged seller again for third time and they told me they will have "active investigation" and I should allow 3 working days and by which time I will have parcel delivered or at very least a new estimated time of delivery, they also added if this is not the case I will be refunded.
After allowing the time specified by seller I still had not received my order, a new estimated delivery time in Ebay tracking info or a refund. So I checked Ebay tracking info and Evri full tracking history on their website and no change on either end. Ebay still saying item despatched and posted with estimated delivery for 28th-30th December 2024 and this is mid January 2025 by now. Evri website full trackingchistory still said they had not received parcel from seller. Which is why and how Ebays estimated delivery time never changed for more than two weeks. I only got refunded after I reached out to Ebay.
Example 2. I made an order on 22nd January 2025 and I received email from courier (Royal Mail) today 23rd January 2025 telling me to expect delivery tomorrow 24th January 2025. Ebay tracking info says seller has not posted item yet but on Royal Mail website it confirms item was posted 22nd Jan and arrived at Midlands Super Hub early on 23rd January .
There are many threads about tracking issues and none of them confirm what the real problem is. It ain't the weather. It ain't the courier. The problem with bad tracking info is undoubtedly on Ebays side.
When will Ebay take accountability for issues on their side?
We can't expect better tracking info from Ebay until they take accountability and then take appropriate action to fix the problems in their side.

Example 2 dates are a week out. 29th, 30th and 31st January are more accurate.
I now have another relative issue with current order.
Example 3
Order was made early 30th January. Seller dispatched order on same day 30th Jan and Ebay has given estimated delivery time of 1st Feb - 3rd Feb.
Today 31st Jan tracking Ace website are saying "we are expecting it".
This is same issue as Example 1.
Ebay should not be giving estimated delivery times to buyers until after courier confirms that they have parcel as sellers saying parcel has been dispatched does not mean parcel has been posted.
These issues are causing much frustration to sellers and buyers and costing us all much time and effort. Ebays new postage options made available to sellers is the problem.
Have reached out to seller of Example 3 asking them to cancel order and arrange postage option from courier themselves and update listing with new postage option so I the buyer can buy again with new postage option. Hopefully this works around the issues in Ebays web services regarding postage.
How can ebay estimated delivery date even be relative if courier has not received package and item has not even been posted yet?
