Payment Method Invalid

OK, so I sold something yesterday for £35.00 and just waited for eBay to make the funds available for pay out.

I received the email early this morning to say they were available, but was surprised to read that they were still on hold due to my saved payment method being invalid, despite the fact that nothing has changed, and my bank account was still the only payment method, as it's always been.

Try as I might, I can't get around this. I checked my payment methods, and it said my bank was for Payouts and Preferred Selling Costs, so I thought that pretty much covered everything.

Turns out, I HAVE to add a debit/credit card as well?! So I add a debit card and the several error messages on eBay regarding an invalid payment method disappear. I now need to do a OTP of £0.01p to my bank to confirm the card. I do so...

But then I realised it's also TAKEN the £35.00 I was paid for my item. Needless to say, I was rather shocked. I got in contact with my bank, who couldn't really do anything at that moment, I have to wait for the payment to process.

However, revelation! I noticed in my emails and eBay messages that I had a message saying there was a problem with a refund I issued a WEEK ago. The problem was.. they couldn't do it, because of my supposed invalid payment method.

It dawned on me that the reason they TOOK the £35 was as part payment of the refund. Why oh WHY did it take eBay a whole week to tell me of a problem with the refund?? They told me it was successful, clearly it wasn't.

So... I'd like to know WHY my payment method suddenly, and without warning, became invalid and couldn't be used to receive pay outs OR issue refunds, and WHY am I forced to add a bank card just to have a valid payment method?

Was this a part of eBays recent payment updates? The thing that no-one reads? What's wrong with a little banner on the site mentioning this? And if it WASN'T part of an update.. what happened? I've had no issues with payments, payment methods or refunds... EVER. This is the first.

I know, a lot of questions, a lot to take in... but, if anyone can shed any light on ANYTHING I said, please do! And thanks!!

Payment Method Invalid

I can't edit?? Hmm... also, just a quick note, I did notice on my payments page that the original refund issued on the 26th Nov, which eBay says was "Completed" also shows a second transaction saying "Declined" which is odd, and I've never seen before. Who declined it... eBay or my bank? And for what reason?

Then today, 4th Dec, shows a transaction of a Charge Reversal (whatever that is) and then the One Time Payment of £35 towards the refund as mentioned above.

I have no idea what happened this morning, I was still half asleep but needed to get this sorted. I'm still confused as to why my bank account payment method was considered invalid and unusable as a refund source.

Really hoping someone can share some knowledge about this!
