Changes again to payouts again

Why can't ebay leave a things alone they changed the payout so you had to request it now they are holding payment until an item has been delivered and verified Have I got this right  and can we still post an item ourselves or are we expected to purchase the postage through ebay. My sellers  don't say when they receive an item does ebay expect this new system to work any better?

You're doing well if you get positive feedback on 50% of your items but you can guarantee the negative the one time it goes wrong.

RM is failing to scan stuff so it can meet delivery targets. Now people need those scans to get paid i can see this blowing up in R Mails face. From ebay's point of view I wonder if this is working as intended. Im further wondering if they would like to stop lots of small sellers clogging up the site with low value items that Don't move.

I am so sick and tired of the changes eBay does!

Also not a good idea if you by any reasons do not want to use eBay shipping postage labelling service  and you write buyer’s address by hand, then you will have your funds pending for 2(!) weeks. Just awful. Where are the old days when you saw the money in your account the same day the item was purchased.

I wish there was some other better selling platform apart from Vinted that does the same thing.

Till then good luck to us all.

Just get your head around getting paid after 14 days.  It's never going be any quicker.. Even with tracked delivery..

private sellers are an important part of ebay...they just don't realise it until they have very few left.

Yes you're right in what you're saying. I think the thing that's grinding
everyone's gears is eBay have introduced these lengthy payment holds purely
to maximise the money they make in interest holding it.

They claim it's to protect buyers but we all know that's not the case. As
you said without private sellers they won't have the majority of buyers
looking for the best price and people will buy elsewhere.

They lose several buyers each time a seller leaves or stops selling. These
buyers don't want to pay buisness sellers prices and will quickly learn not
to bother looking at eBay. Buisness sellers will have to undercut eachother
until they have no viable profits & also leave the platform.

They can attempt to attract new sellers with their no fees claims but these
sellers will quickly learn they won't be getting a fast return on their
sales & far from being free, they'll be paying upfront to in theory give
their goods away, in the hope that one day they'll receive payment. If you
like to gamble then eBay is a great place to do it as a private seller.

Yes these changes are ridiculous, not only do you have to get tracking for all items even the cheaper ones but if you don't then they will hold onto your money for up to 14 days unless you can prove that the item has been delivered, even though they say you will get your money in two days, they say nothing about the "14 days" that you' willl have to wait to get paid even if you have received good feedback from the buyers. They've had my money on hold for the past 11 days even though the items  have been received and positive feedback left by them for the items bought and i think that it is all wrong and needs to be put back to how it was, i used to get paid within 2 or 3 days after the initial 3 months of selling but now it's up to two weeks because of these changes and i've been an "above average" seller for the past 13 years with 100% positive feedback in all that time so now they are going to lose a lot of money because i'm not paying tracking for my smaller items of which i have a lot so they are just shooting themselves in the foot with these new rules, i think i will have to find another means of selling all my collectables etc. even after being a good seller for all this time. They need to remember that sellers are their life source and without them then disaster will follow ebay, you can't treat people like that especially the ones who have been loyal sellers for years and i'm not sure they can legally hang onto your money for so long. I complained about thiese new rules and about not getting paid and their response was " An ebay expert has looked at your complaint and has decided that ebay are following rules" and then just simply closed the case.

I of course phoned the  "Financial ombudsman" and made a complaint and they agreed that ebay has no right to hold onto my money and opened a case against ebay. If you feel the same about them holding onto your ebay funds then you should phone them and complain too. the phone numbers for the finacial ombudsman are as follows - 0800 023 4567 or 0300 123 9123.

Also In the "seller hub"  in the blue box that tells you of the funds typically being available within calendar 2 days after delivery, if you hit the "learn more" in the blue box it will take you to another section which states as follows - Their words. .

  • For untracked deliveries, or tracked deliveries with no delivery confirmation, funds will become available 14 calendar days from the order date
  • For untracked, single-quantity, single-item orders priced £10 or less, funds will be available after positive feedback is received from the buyer, or 14 days from the order date, whichever comes first

It seems ebay are not even keeping to the positive feedback part - I called them and was told I still have to wait 14 days even though I received positive feedback a couple of days after posting a single untracked item under £10. I will be contacting the ombudsman as you suggest - it is just a cash grab by eBay, clearly.

Before contacting the ombudsman,  check the new ruling.

This new change,  that is, items under the value of £10 payouts for those can be released early if feedback has been left starts at the end of February.

See here the announcement.

We’ve also heard your feedback and understand that shipping costs are particularly top of mind for low price items. When you’re selling a single item for £10 or less, and it’s sent untracked, funds will now be available 24 hours after you receive positive buyer feedbackThis will be live by the end of February.

It is not just that part of it - if you read the comment he says that when he contacted the Ombudsman they agreed that eBay have no right to hold on to the funds in the first place - so I will still be contacting them.

I agree,i fell for the "Free to sell" bit and put up all my collectables and items i didn't want anymore but then i got hit at the end of the month for a good amount and i had to phone them umpteen times in order to figure out why i had been charged when they said it was free to sell. Only then was i told that free selling was only up to 300 items per month and they ripped me for about £50 and i was livid and felt i had been ripped off because they never said "sell for free up to 300 items per month before charges" otherwise i wouldn't have put so many items up and also do you know that with the new rule changes you will "not" get paid for up to 14 days if the item is not tracked unless the item is under £10.00 but then they add the postage so that it's usually "over" £10.00 unless the item is "very" cheap and then you'll have to wait for 14 days to get paid but really they mean if you don't buy a postal label from ebay which is just another way to rip you off. I haven't even been paid for items paid for on the 10th of the month and it's now the 21st and i've just phoned ebay who say they won't pay me for another few days being when the 14 days are up and i've been a 100% positive above average seller for 13 years and that's how they treat me? Absolutely ridiculous behaviour!

really trust such low life and scuzzy treatment of long term loyal sellers and all sellers in general from a platform i used to trust also i've had to return an expensive item recently and they wouldn't pay me until it was received ( back to the United states and inspected - whaaaaaat?

eBay DID actually say that the number of free listings had dropped to 300 per month.

Every time you purchase a label they put your account into arrears with zero account either of with holding your pay outs. I'm yet to see any money from seven days ago! I've had multiple purchases and bought labels and the huge delays are going to see sellers stop being able to afford to wait. Meanwhile eBay gain interest on the money they are holding. Ever something so ridiculous this is it in all the years the worst system.

It's took five attempts to request a call back. Wait times today have been in excess of an hour each time and five hours later am told this information.

True I use Royal Mail a lot and also have the 'backup' of making a 'lost' claim for non delivery. However, you cannot do this until at least 10 days after the expected delivery time. So if i make this claim and am re-imbursed by RM what happens to the buyers money held on account by eBay. Do they return to the buyer or steal it?

Yep. Just had this happen: item fully tracked as far as local delivery office, but then not tracked at delivery point. If I check with a buyer, not all are honest, some would just say not received, because they know they can have it for free. Very difficult to claim compensation from couriers if just selling a few of one's own possessions- some ask for proof purchase. Might as well just chuck the item and the cost of postage in the bin.

The bottom line is eBay has set this whole thing up to hold sellers money
for the longest time to make interest. They won't reverse this process as
it's how their making money. Sellers have & will leave and this is why
they've up their advertising for new sellers but they to will quickly learn
it's not free to sell on eBay & they will have to put money upfront to GIVE
away their property in the hope that 1 day they might get a return after
eBay has finished making it earn them & their share holders lots of high
interest.

It's disgusting profiteering from property they don't own whilst the
property owner has nothing and has actually spent their own money just to
make eBay rich. It's immoral to take advantage of people in need to line
their own pockets. Some may call it clever but many more think it's a
disgusting way to run a company. It's pure greed & will backfire. They
can't justify the weeks they're holding funds on items clearly delivered.

They've clearly turned off the link that updates tracking delivery on eBay
to leave deliveries looking like their undelivered & despite having the
ability & technology to see it's delivered. Disgusting manipulation of
their systems & grossly dishonest. We have signed up to be scammed & the
only way to stop it is to close accounts.

I've stopped buying as I won't support eBay. I don't care how cheap I'm
not buying. I look forwards to the day the wheels come off & they
disappear. eBay needs to know that other selling platforms are being
developed off the back of this.

Well. This fun. Postie didn't scan an item at the point of delivery, but I have positive feedback for it. Ebay still holding the funds because they still want proof of delivery, which isn't going to happen is it. So now what?

I think you have to wait 14 days then get paid. Another seller has reported this to trading standards. I no longer list on here. I have an item up but is more of an advert than a listing and is for collection only, I use other platforms now. Secondly it is cash on collection and one-off sale.

I like all the advertising Ebay is doing around the free to sell narrative, but omit the pitfalls we talk about on here. I see all this coming to some policy change again when dishonesty from some buyers, taking advantage of this system, becomes a real problem for ebay and prompts some course change yet again.

It really winds me up especially when my feedback is 💯% and I've had my account nearly 20 years.

Half the buyers never leave feedback anyway when you sell something.

I get why they have changed it but don't agree with it for long term users like myself with excellent feedback.
