buyer problems

I sold an item which was for collection and the buyer asked me to store the item for a few weeks, eventually it was 5 weeks. The buyer arranged several dates for collection then cancelled them with a collection of excuses. The buyer has now sent me a message stating that they do not want the item and they most certainly do not want a refund and state I should keep the money due to the inconvenience that they caused me. The buyer has now asked me to tick the collection box and they have provided me with the six digit collection code. The buyer also wants to send me financial compensation for the trouble which I have had. I think all of this is highly irregular within the eBay code of conduct and I propose to refund the buyer the payment that he made for the item. Monarch 60
