What can I do when I get no response when asked to cancel an item

A seller does not have to accept your cancellation request,  it's not mandatory for them to do so.

Does the seller have a Returns Accepted policy?  Then,  on receipt of your item,  you can return it for a full refund,  but you need to pay for the tracked return postage.

If you have put a request in and the seller is ignoring it, on the 4th morning (it used to be and I am sure it still is) that eBay would auto cancel the item.

This will be partly dependent on the situation which you do not actually advise on eg have you paid for the item etc.
