Rude reply from seller

I made an enquiry regarding the over pricing of an item stating that,  maybe they were selling the product above the price it can be bought at on line and received a very rude reply from the seller…. Anyone else have an issue the same or similar?

I was going to make a formal complaint to EBay but didn’t see a way to do it. I know I’m probably being a little bit ‘Karen’ but the item didn’t receive any bids and I wanted to see if seller would consider a more reasonable price as with postage was about £10 more than the online price with free postage.
Anyway, I don’t like rude people and it kinda P’d me off lol

Re: Rude reply from seller

Perhaps asking if they would kindly accept an offer would have received a better response?

Rudeness is not acceptable I agree , I would not have replied to you in that fashion if told my items were over priced,  but I would have been a little offended.

The seller could have taken  your enquiry as rude too.

What you see as a helpful suggestion and a willingness to buy at a lower price, sellers may see as a cheeky attempt to haggle down the price.

It's up to every seller to set their own prices and there may be good reasons why they can't or won't attempt to match the lowest online price. If they have provided the option to make an offer, you can make one. Otherwise, if it's cheaper elsewhere, it's better just to buy it elsewhere. Not everyone will respond to perceived criticism tactfully.

At least you know there not the kind of seller you would want to buy from now 😉

Personally, I don't think I am generally a rude person, but the message you sent could indeed trigger an impolite reply.

Possibly along the lines of 'So, why don't you go away (or words with a similar meaning) and buy it elsewhere online then?'

I would not have written that reply but I would have deleted the message, not replied and blocked you.

Really, what did you expect?

As for making a 'formal complaint' to Ebay - have you genuinely not got anything better to do?
