Problem with international shipping, how can I ensure to set this up correctly?

Hi all

I am an independent account, not a business. My mother passed away and had a large collection of branded clothes I wish to sell, as I will not wear them. They are second hand items - they are not items I have bought to re-sell.

With my last few orders, I had a number of bid winners in the USA and Canada contact me to say it will not allow them to checkout, it was telling them I do not ship to their location, even though I have worldwide shipping on, and at one point was on the global shipping programme.

I turned off the global shipping programme as I thought this may be the issue as I have seen in a previous thread sometimes it may stop a purchase due to a key word that may be restricted/the GSP thinks the item is a restricted item in that country. (I'm only selling clothes)

I have tried without the GSP and manually choosing my delivery service, and manually entering an amount for them to pay. However, on the listing page, it then prompts the buyer to contact the seller for shipping costs - it doesn't show them an amount to pay for shipping/wont allow them to proceed with an order. (I am also only having auctions, no buy it nows or offers, so the problem isn't picked up until the auction ends and the bid winner gets in touch to let me know they can't complete the purchase.)

How do I ensure that worldwide shipping is set up correctly - I am pretty sure I had it all correctly but it isn't allowing anyone outside the UK to purchase anything/complete a checkout.

I would really really like to allow international buyers to bid on these items.

Please can anybody offer some advice on how to fix the issue?

Many thanks

To add, I have turned off all international shipping on all active listings, whilst I try and sort this out

You say you have turned off international shipping, BUT if you look at your own listings you will find in the postage section that all countries are shown but there is no postage. Just to contact seller for cost.

This is just part of the list of countries you in theory post to, but without a cost they cannot pay, so presumably cannot buy.

The problem with shipping outside the UK, is that World Wide and Europe both have three postal bands, and there is no provision to quote 6 postal costs to cover all countries.

I know of no easy option to get round this. My own items are rarely expensive and I quote the highest price of the 3 bands for WW and Europe, and have also recently drastically restricted the number of Countries I will post to.

Thank you for replying. I see what you are saying.

However, may be a silly question, where am I able to quote the prices from the price band - you mention you quote the highest price of the 3 for WW and Europe, do you quote this on your listings? or do you reply this quote amount in messages to buyers?

Also, where am I able to find these price bands?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Problem with international shipping, how can I ensure to set this up correctly?

Royal Mail have a booklet available from the Post Office,I give below a pic. of the booklet and one of the pages giving  Zones and costs for each zone, just as a guide.

Posting overseas with Insurance can prove expensive.

I put a price on my listing, nobody seems to read anything in description, just as postage for UK, as buyers need to know cost and unlikely to buy blind, or based on a figure supplied in another way.

I have cut back to only selling to 7 Countries having found some countries ask buys to pay VAT although part of the address supplied by ebay incorporates a TAX PAID line. There is also the need to complete Customs Declarations which require Commodity Codes, see below -

Pics. to follow.

Re: Problem with international shipping, how can I ensure to set this up correctly?

Thank you!

Sorry I don't know if this is just me being silly or missing it, but how can i add international delivery prices to my listing? e.g a flat rate for USA,  flat rate for europe etc When I manually enter an amount in the delivery/postage section on the 'create a listing' page, the delivery price never shows up on the actual listing.

I tried applying a postage rate table but again no international delivery prices show up

Thanks in advance!
