I sold an inexpensive item over the weekend , and I listed the item with 'yodel store to door'. Today I got paid for the item and discovered that my yodel postage option had been replaced with simple delivery, and that the customer had selected evri as the delivery service.
I live in a rural part of Scotland and my nearest evri parcel shop is a 130 mile round trip so I tried to amend the postage back to my original choice but sadly all alternative postage options had been removed. There is now a lag on my account between making a sale, getting delivered, and subsequently getting the cash in my account, and I'm not entirely sure if the new ' no seller fee' being replaced by buyer protection fees is the difference between a six and 2 3s Im not sure if eBay will be a viable marketplace for me to sell on in the future.

You can cancel and relist with Royal Mail (that's the alternative to Evri on Simple Delivery) for the buyer to buy again.
You can opt out of using Evri here:

And you can arrange RM collection if you wish. When your item is sold and after you've generated a prepaid label on eBay, book your collection on the Royal Mail website. More info:

I've managed to change my postage preferences to remove evri from the options, however this now gives me only one postage option to offer any potential customer.

In my opinion, only one choice is the “simple” and best way. Royal Mail rates are same for all parts of the UK, couriers get very expensive for more remote parts, and if buyer selects a cheap delivery, but costs more you cannot expect buyer to pay extra.

I just did a couple of hypothetical draft listings to check how simple delivery works with different packages. It quickly ramps up in price for oversize parcels, and there's no choice. ' Hobson's choice' as the saying goes.
Yodels parcel size bracketing is more generous than royal mail . Try sending a 1.2 m golf club by the now extinct (on eBay) yodel and compare the price with royal mail or parcel force. You will see what I mean about it stinging customers , which impacts saleability
