Fake books

I’ve recently purchased two books from an eBay bookshop, when received they had quite clearly sold me printed ebooks, I have reported to eBay as counterfeit and contacted the seller but neither seem to care, I want a full refund but they won’t do that unless I return the books, but I don’t think I should have to, as far as I am concerned they are fake so it’s just as good as me not receiving the item I paid for, plus why send them back for them to sell again. EBay have come back saying the seller has done nothing wrong! Just trying to work out my options here? If anyone has any advise?

Re: Fake books

Under eBay's 30 day MBG Money Back Guarantee policy you do have to return an item for a full refund.

If more sellers open these case for return it raises a red flag to eBay to check that seller's account and may well ban them from selling,  those case are important and count.

Proceed this way now.

You have received an item not as described,  so you are guaranteed a full refund under eBay's 30 day MBG,  Money Back Guarantee policy,  if you claim within 30 days of the item's last estimated date for delivery.

You then go right of the item in your Purchase History,  and from More Actions select Return this item,  selecting the reason...  Item Does Not Match Description or Photos.

The seller has 3 days to accept the case,  if they don't ,  you need to  escalate on day 4,  or within 30 days,  and eBay will step in and force the refund.

If the seller wants the item back first,  they need to pay for a fully tracked return postage.  On receipt of their item they have 48 hours to refund you.  Again,  if they don't,  you escalate the case.

Do not close the case early for any excuse or promise the seller may give,  and do not forget to escalate.
