How is it theft?

You pay the price on listing, nothing is added later.

Like a lot of companies, if you don't like the new policy you have option to close account.

Great way to run a business……great customer focus…..
No name though…..?

no wise words, other than…”close your account”….

We can only explain it as it is. We're just other members like yourself.

The simple fact is that eBay has stopped charging fees for private sellers, and instead started to charge buyers for buyer protection when buying from them. Nobody likes the new charge, there have been endless complaints about it.

However, we all had the option to close our accounts when the user agreement was changed. As you didn't close it, you accepted the new charges so it isn't theft.

Other than closing your account, the only way you can avoid the charge is by buying from business sellers, when the charge won't apply. But keep in mind that eBay as private sellers now sell for free their prices can be lower than before.

I beg to differ……their is a “assumption “ that people were aware of the changes….which is not true…..it’s was done via slight of hand…..deceitful…sharp practice….THEFT…
I for one was not aware of any changes….probably buried in the small print….
You cannot take default positions…unless all customers were “Specifically” told and asked to knowledge the same….then NO…..you cannot do fundamental changes ..it’s un ethical..THEFT.

Ebay messaged everyone on 3rd January 2025.

Check your ebay messages, may be deleted.

No one likes the new policy, but as said either accept or leave.

Or join the many heated discussions on other boards.
