Bought nextbase 322gw dash cam and its faulty- return denied

Hi, I bought front and rear dash cam. On the photos there are no mounts for cameras but in the description it said that only one mount is missing. I didnt check if camera is working and just wanted the refund that one mount is missing. Got declined. Than I taught, that I am stuck with it so I bought the mounts and when I tried the camera - the ON/OFF switch was stuck in- not working. I contacted the seller but he delined return, Ebay customer service told me there is nothing they can do as I already had my return declined because of mounts and I can not have another return request..

The seller is definately dodgy, didnt reply to my msgs at first only later he angrily sent not very nice msgs. I assume that he sold broken camera and kept the mounts to replace just cameras. As most sellers sell them with mounts, that explaines why he ketpt the mounts and why he was angry, not helpful.

He orygibally posted it 6 days late, cameras were just shoved in the box  with cables, not secured.

I really didnt think anything could be wrong, as had mostly good experience with Ebay for 19 years! 

Ebay customer service was unhelpful and I am really disapointed. They told me to claim it through my credit card - which is not possible as purchase is only £50.  

Is there anything else I can do?

Section 75 statutory card purchase protection certainly only covers items over £100. However, card issuers have much greater discretion over the user of chargebacks. I suggest that you contact your card issuer for advice.

Thanks but its not helpful. Section 75 states clearly that only purchase over £100. Why would bank bend the rules for me

I was hoping there is a way to aproach Ebay, as received the item on 11 November 2024. So I am still within 30 days. Dont understand why its not possible to acknowlede that the item is damaged

It's worth asking  surely?

You only get one chance for a returns case on ebay.

if you opened an eBay not as described case the seller cannot refuse to accept it, because you can escalate it to eBay for a refund.

That's what I taught too. And I told them that it's Actually faulty 10 days after receiving the item, so well within 30 days. I checked it too late but it shouldnt matter as still within 30 days.

But they said mistake choosing wrong return request is done and they can not open another return request.

My negative feedback to the seller has been deleted by Ebay. 

I am stuck with broken camera. I hate Ebay. And this forum has not given me any avice how to deal with Ebay. Asking me to go to credit card provider is not an advice how to deal with Ebay.

Looks like you opened wrong type of ebay case,

if it was normal return, seller can decline.

You should have opened item not as described, sellers can't refuse them.

I still think it is worth trying your payment provider, they may accept it.

What case did you open as no seller can decline a NOT AS DESCRIBED CASE, which covers missing parts as well as damage, not working, so if you did not open that sort of case you must just have gone for a return using the wrong reason, which is classed as a change of mind, and private sellers do not have to accept this sort of return.

The money back guarantee works very well and buyers are so well protected, but it is essential to read what you have to do to get money back.

Your negative feedback was either removed because you lost the return case, or something was said which is not allowed. Leaving negative feedback should always in my opinion be brief, “Unsatisfactory transaction” says it all and marking down the star ratings damages the sellers performance.

Did you try your payment provider? It is always worth using paypal as while they only cover for 30 days, it is a useful backup if you open the wrong sort of case with ebay.

If you gave the return reason as "Does not fit" this is classed as a change of mind reason and would explain why it was declined.
