With the weather forecast not being too good, I hope that everyone stays safe over the next few days.

Well back from dog walk and there are 4 trees down in our little local park
One was a massive old Oak tree but looking at it it was rotten with fungus so no surprising really
It's odd how some exposed ones survived but some in amoungst other trees came down
Sad for our neighbours though, their tree will be missed by all the other gardens around

We have been very lucky here, lots of flooding in the south of the county, no trains due to trees on the line, lots of flood warnings and 6000 homes without power. Where we are it was just a normal windy Autumn night here, nothing out of the ordinary, nothing had moved in the garden and plenty could have. We have been out with the dogs for about an hour and a half did a round robin around the village and couldn't see any damage, just the normal leaves on the ground. So our own area seems to have missed the worst of it, thank goodness. Couldn't hear anything last night, weither that was because of the new windows or because the wind wasn't that bad.
Patch I think it was the south coast that copped it worst and I hope everything is ok with you. Mind you if you watch the News 24 on the BBC you would think it was only London that had it. No offence Ginap if you are reading this.
I hope everyone else is ok,

Well I am South Coast and it was very selective. One howling gust, minimal damage but daughter lives the other side of City and OH was weaving around trees to get onto estate, Nevermind he's off his sickbed, togged up, chainsaw in hand and is currently logging up trees blocking access to some flats. Then he's off down the industrial estate for another one.

Is anyone else near Maidstone?, its calmed a bit now but i do not think it was as bad as some may have had it?.

Just round the corner from our house, poor people that live there!

It wasn't exaggerated here, trees down, roads blocked, power lines down. Not as bad as 1987 by any means but scarey while it lasted which was only 30mns at 8 this morning.

There's one just like that at Felixstowe flamin*elle.

We've been lucky where I live but I believe that the south coast of England was affected more than Merseyside which is where I am. It has been a bit blowy here but I've known it worse. We've also had some very heavy downpours. If the wind does get any stronger, I just hope that it doesn't blow the Leylandii in the back garden of one of our neighbours from across the road. If the wind does blow it down at any time it would be bad but at night time, it would be worse because they have an 11 year old daughter whose bedroom is at the back of the house.

Weather wise, we have a bad night with all the rain. At around 10pm last night, I've never heard rain like it. It was that bad, I thought that the windows were going to come in but thankfully, they didn't. I think that we've a few more heavy showers but not as bad as the one at 10pm last night.
Hope that everyone is safe and well.

You're not far from me Guardpig. I have a simple ap. that says 'will it rain' and just says yes or no. Today it says no, we will see!
Not too far really. I don't have an app - I have OH!!! Can your app magic up a few(just a few) knots of wind please.
Yesterday had to go down Docs about a mile away, it's raining halfway there and halfway back. We had no rain and OH who was about another mile past the Docs had a dry day as well.

We have a breeze, we always have a breeze! Don't often have chance to dry washing outside once the clocks change because by the time we are home from work it's damp again.

I was shocked when i saw the news last night about it being bad in London and about all those poor people. How TERRIBLE, its very upsetting and scary. In the papers today they said that their is a worse storm on the way. I have not sad down to read it properly yet but saw it on one lot of headlines!!!!!!!!.

I think wind is the most distructive element. I know flooding can cause awful damage but it's usually quite localised, and lightening can bring down the occasional structure, but wind is so unpredictable and just clears a path of whatever is in it's way! I find it quite frightening. I think it probably causes more deaths than floods do, in this country.

We've had quite a few heavy showers here today and it's quite blowy. Last night at around 9.45, I have never heard rain like it. It was that bad, I thought that the windows were coming. I have to go to the doctors just after 5 so I hope that it isn't raining then.
Hope that your daughter soon gets the power back CG.
