Re: Little Princess wig challenge ..................:-)

I wondered about that as well.

Probably something to do with the chemicals in dyes.

Re: Little Princess wig challenge ..................:-)

I think that if the hair has been dyed prior to it being cut then it can be used.

This charity is close to my heart, sadly my hair is way too short.

Good luck ladies xx

Re: Little Princess wig challenge ..................:-)

Sorry - I lost part of my post there.

Dyed hair is acceptable - it must be a permanent dye and done about 2 weeks before your hair chop. LPT don't include grey hair in the children's wigs, and dyeing cut hair is simply impossible. They accept 10% grey in any shank of hair that is sent.

I am very fortunate. I have my mother's hair genes!

Mam will be 89 years old on 2nd September and she doesn't have a grey hair in her head! I am 30 years younger and I also don't have a grey hair.

Mam is going to do the hair chop at her 89th birthday party.... photos will follow to prove I did it.

Re: Little Princess wig challenge ..................:-)

Oh I am glad you said it needs to be dyed 2 weeks beforehand, I was thinking I could get it dyed, dried, and cut on the same day!

I normally dye it myself, but thought I'd best get a professional to do it to make sure it all gets coloured.

Re: Little Princess wig challenge ..................:-)

It is to do with grey hairs being quite porous, so the dye colourant needs to be re-washed a couple of times to get it to 'settle' and even out.

Try doing a deal with your hairdresser - pay for professional colouring but ask her for a FREE cut and re-style on the day of your hair chop.

Also, remember that you can't have your hair cut when it is wet.  Very important!  You have to do a dry cut but then you can have what is left on your head washed afterwards for your re-style.  My hair is naturally wavy/curly as you can see in the photo but I have to have a dry cut this time which will be marvellous (NOT).  As soon as 12 inches of weight comes off the length, my hair will have a mind of its own and will wave and curl into any random style.

I will keep thinking about the children who will get a FREE wig from our hair and funding donations.

Snowpony - let us know when you are doing your hairchop and we'll rally round you as well.

Liz (Chaldon) told one of her friends about Little Princess Trust and she sent her long hair to them.  See, we have inspired others to part with hair.  The Anne and Sadie Hairchop challenge is a great success on so many levels.

Thanks to everyone who has sponsored us so far.

£221.00 to go to reach our £700 target.

Re: Little Princess wig challenge ..................:-)

Thank you to everyone who has supported the 'wigs for children' challenge.

I have uploaded 2 photographs to assure you that I really DID have my hair cut last Sunday (1st September).

https://www.justgiving.com/Anne-Trewick-Southworth

I had always promised to donate at least 12 inches of my hair, but my younger sister measured and convinced me that I could afford to have 16 inches cut off (which will make two wigs for the children!)  We got an extra wig for a child there!

It took my mother 10 minutes to hack my hair off (I am sure she was enjoying it too much) and she held my plait up like a trophy!  Norty Mam!!!

I posted my plait to Little Princess Trust on Tuesday morning - so two children will have a great Christmas present.  The children are given the natural hair wigs free of charge

Sadie is doing the next hairchop challenge at Christmas time and we just need to raise the final £105.14 to cover the costs to make her hair into a wig for a child.

THANK YOU EVERYONE IN FHG AND THE ROUND TABLE.

You have made a difference to a child who is challenged with hair-loss because of cancer.

If you are a member of 'the other place' there are more photos.......

Re: Little Princess wig challenge ..................:-)

I am happy to report that Dippy had her hair chopped today!

I have updated our page with photos so that you can see that the challenge has been completed.

https://www.justgiving.com/Anne-Trewick-Southworth  (THIS PAGE IS CLOSED NOW AS THE CHALLENGE IS COMPLETED)

Thank you to everyone in FHG and the RT who helped us to raise the £700 for our hair to be made into Wigs for Children.

There will be some special gifts arriving in Santa's sack at Christmas for 2-3 children.  I don't need to be a fly on the wall for the Christmas Santa opening - I can see the joy and excitement of the children in my head!  I hope you can see it also.

THANK YOU EVERYONE.

Anne and Sadie
