Ebay now seem to require auto-pay on items that I wish to make an offer on ? Guess what Ebay I will not authorise auto pay on each item so therefore I will not send offers to sellers. Another good feature that you have runied - the excuse its to stop people who then dont pay for the item is garbage = you know who made the offer, you now who did not pay so suspend their account for a week or send them an email - you would rather make everyone auto-pay well I will just not bother making offers.

They can still refund the excess postage.

Thanks - 2 companies they said :
Hi we are a business that imports orders so items need to be paid for in the same transaction to be sent together thanks
Hi items need to be paid for in the same transaction for combined shipping thanks
when you click on the item description it's implies they can do combined postage for all items - I have asked for refund as a matter of courtesy 😀

You can't do combined shipping reductions when immediate payment is set. But you can manually do a part refund of the excess postage.
It's my opinion that sellers should not be charging postage per item and then sending in one package without reducing the postage by way of a partial refund.

A seller asks for cash on collection of a furniture item- the listing has buy it now and best offer options- If I buy it now- I have to pay immediately or or I cant buy it. - Ok so the buyer wants cash on collection- sensible since you can view the item as secondhand furniture can be a bit difficult to get right - I used to be able to make a best offer which could be accepted and then pay by cash- no more! you have to set up an pay in advance which is activated immediately the offer is acepted- no way to pay by cash anymore- what is going on!!!!! I suppose I will have to initiate a load more refunds and cancel sales because 50 percent of furniture items are not as described in my exparience - and I buy 10-20 lots of furniture a week!

It is a foolish seller that chooses immediate payment required for collection items.

Ebays motto is "if it aint broke, break it"

One problem with offers is buyers thinking offer price includes p+p
Had a couple of buyers refuse to pay because of that.

What if I wanted a click&collect shipping address??
You automatically ship to the default address. Why there is no warning message?
This is the most unbelievable stupid I have witnessed in a while.

My default address is not valid because I moved and I didn't expect this to happen.

I have just tried to buy something and made an offer, but glad it wasn't accepted as I wanted to do the pay in 3 with paypal, only just realised. Not given this choice as with normal purchases. , Will buy somewhere else. Seller looses sale.

There is no such thing as a cash-only listing for furniture. If it suits both parties, cash may be fine, but its use can't be mandatory.
The wisdom of a seller requiring immediate payment on offers probably depends on his items. If he sells small drill bits he will probably get lots of multiple-item purchases. But if greenhouses or alloy car wheels are his line, the combining of postage may be something he never sees.
There are two ways you can, in effect, get combined postage with immediate payment. As I said earlier, you can make an offer which allows for it. It is unlikely to be exactly right, but probably not bad. Buyers expressing such a need are often more concerned with gaining something, than by accurate counting of pennies.
I made an offera couple of days agoo, and was promptly accepted. A white authorisation screen appeared, and as I have an over-sensitive mouse, it wouldn't be hard to make it disappear. That means no offer made, and no reason for you to be told.

The answer is pretty simple, if you dont want to pay for an item then dont buy it.

Ok a quick question relating to this topic. I went to make an offer today and found that eBay have sent up my method of payment for offers. Issue is I have NEVER agreed to this so, are we now being over ruled and forced to make an instant payment for items where we make an offer on? Previously, when I found it required me to set my payment option if I was going to make an offer, I chose not to and then emailed the seller to see if they were aware that the setting had been applied to their listings. Every time I have previously done this, the reaction has been that they were not aware and went and removed the demand.

They might stop one problem only to make a more serious problem, humans are humans and there is always discrepencies and errors. So now if someone has made an offer that they regret and the money has been swiped by ebay then some types of people who receive the item that they no longer want will damage it so they can claim a return . So a bit of being messed about by non payers is a lot better, it will always happen and if you stop that you start something else.
Also it is being implemented on auction sales as well , ebay will just swipe the payment on an auction you have bid on or an an offer you have made.
and the system is going to be mandatory soon, like 2024
one further thing the infinite wisdom of ebay did not consider is that if I make an offer on an expensive item , if I win I want to manually go through checkout so I can choose to pay with paypal credit or with paypal balance. With forced auto payment we will not be able to choose, it will automatically be charged to your paypal balance thus negating the ability to choose paypal credit . Whoever thought it up in ebay should be sacked, they do not have the intelligence to see the full implications they just see one little aspect it might address but can not see how it will cause more problems than it solves.
So sellers will get swift payments, wow, but they will get more returns opened due to damaged goods. Better a few days being messed about due to non payment than weeks being messed about with a return due to lying excuses.

how does it remove the item ? only if the offer is accepted. and the seller can just relist again if payment not received for what must be a reasonable offer, the seller still has the item. If the item gets sent to a rogue who has changed their mind, instead of a quick message to cancel, everything will be automatically paid and item sent and if a rogue has changed their mind they will want to return the item by foul means. ie they may damage the item to return it. So SPECIALIST ask the seller which scenario with rogues they would prefer.
And ebay is going to implement it by force on all auctions and offers in 2024., according to my talking with support today.

exactly so ebay should only force this on non payers, if someone is highly regarded by ebay then give us the option . It also stops a buyer from choosing paypal credit or paypal balance . Ebay is very unintelligent on this one, total disregard for ebay users who pay promptly and have a track record. Give us the choice, and give no choice to those who are non payers.

it should work the same with auction
