Concerned about seller ignoring cancellation request

I recently bought an item, and evri supposedly lost it in the post. 2 weeks went by, I'd opened a claim on ebay and it was on pause for 10 days. I got paranoid and orderd a replacement item (from Japan, $36 shipping AND $32.20 VAT)  on Monday.

Tuesday morning I got an email from Evri that they'd found the parcel, and it came that very day. I immediately put in a cancellation request (approx 18 hours after placing the order), and 2 days has past with no contact from the seller regarding the order at all. I've already paid for the item (which was a headache in itself as I had to transfer currencies in my revolut) and have read that if they don't respond to the cancellation, the order will go through as standard.

Is there anything I can do at all in this situation? I don't need the item (returning is not an option due to the insane shipping and fees) and reselling is difficult due to the nature of the item, if the cancellation request expires and the item has still not shipped, can I submit another one? I messaged the seller today and explained the situation but they have not read/responded to my message

Re: Concerned about seller ignoring cancellation request

You can only submit one cancellation request.  If the seller doesn't respond to the cancellation request then, unfortunately, your only option open would be an 'Item not received' claim if the item doesn't get despatched.

Unless you can return one item as a change of mind I am afraid you are going to end up with two items.

You only get one cancellation request.
