I do this too and it does help with most buyers. Just a polite message explaining ebay's delivery estimates are not an accurate guess and to allow up to a week.

On this subject I've just had a customer claiming INR within 4 days of posting and they have just said:
Buyer’s message: 'We will wait until the 28th August as per ebay rules, and then I guess ebay will sort it on your behalf. This is mad, you can buy an ebay postage label for the same value and the 2nd class items get tracked
Can someone explain the above - will this not still fall foul of the 'no delivery on Saturday - delivery every other day'?

Difficult to say, without knowing the full picture - is however you sent it tracked? If not, that would explain their thinking IMO.

Hi - All our post is 2nd class Royal Mail bought through ebay (hence was not sure what the buyers point was - I did ask)
I have noticed Royal Mail are ALOT quicker at getting an email back when you open a case with them for an item not delivered (the last few have been replied to within 48 hours)... however, for 2nd class it has to have been longer than 10 working days before you can open a case / report it... and now I'm finding buyers (like In this instance ) Have opended an INR case on ebay within 5 days of placing an order!!
We don't stand a chance

Im finding a lot of 2nd class large letters taking up to a week to 10 days to be delivered.
But also since end July i have sent several 2nd class small parcels that have not been confirmed as delivered. Are RM trying to force us into tracked 48 small parcels?
The price difference isn't much but when your on a low margin on low priced items it means upping prices again. I have 3 at the moment that i don't know if the customer has got it or not unless they leave feedback. Also one has opened an INR and technically it's not even late yet.
If several of you are having the same problem please share it. I read someone else also having the same problem. I am starting to think it is across the board on 2nd small parcels as it is only since the end of July i have seen this happening and it is only 2nd small parcels, the ones i send tracked 48 are all being scanned as delivered. I believe it is a new silent policy by RM to get us all to change to tracked.

To make matters worse, it looks like eBay haven't recognised Monday 25th as a bank holiday, with no collection or deliveries in most areas.

FWIW.
Buyer closed the case as soon as I told him it was a label bought via ebay.
May have been a coincidence - but seeing as today is a Saturday, they wouldn't have had a 2nd class delivery either.

I sent a LL 2nd class on August 11 and it wasn't delivered until yesterday (23rd). This is becoming typical and many are taking 7-10 days to arrive.
But still according to eBay, nothing has changed and their EDDs are working as intended.

I've said this on another thread before, but another one of ebays cs agents told me a while ago that they are trying to phase out 'side hustles' and only want business sellers now.
I wonder if they think business sellers will take the hit on tracked postage and they (ebay) don't care so much for the little items that don't make them much money?
I put several of my items on Vinted yesterday - things that have sat untouched on ebay for well over a month - and nearly all sold within an hour! No fees either so a win for me.
eBay has got too greedy and has no respect for it's long-time sellers any more.

There are still 2nd class deliveries on Saturdays. I had 2nd class letter post yesterday delivered to my house.
The communication has been poor from Royal Mail on this but it hasn't been fully rolled out and there are still changes been made in delivery offices to accommodate the change. On top of this the union are kicking back on the changes as well.

I have recently seen some RM48 LL's take over 3 weeks to arrive with buyers so it is not just 2nd class that takes a long time.

I wonder if that's mail that's been held over from earlier in the week.
I'm seeing vans arriving in my area at odd times, often quite late in the day or Saturday afternoons, with someone on foot doing a short round. Presumably a catching-up exercise.
Also noticed the GSP depot gets Sunday deliveries for 2nd class.

I sold an item on Saturday afternoon. Messaged the buyer to inform them Royal Mail would be closed for the Bank Holiday on Monday so it would be Tuesday PM before it is collected. Buyer has today (Thursday) contacted me saying item not arrived (it was sent second class LL). Ebay's estimated delivery day for the buyer was Wednesday which is an impossibility.
This is an absolute joke!
