I LIVE IN SOUTH AFRICA AND SEND BATCHES OF SOLD SLIDES EVERY TWO MONTHS TO A UK CONTACT WHO SENDS THEM BY ROYAL MAIL. MUST ALL ITEMS NOW BER SENT TRACKED OR SIGNED-FOR?
Funds being on hold that length of time is most likely due to a restriction being placed on your eBay account. Please check your messages/emails from eBay for details on how to resolve it.

If you are using a UK registered account ?, by Default,UK based Addresses with UK based Banking account details are required ---

Back to your question about posting from South Africa. I have friends who post to/from SA. After hearing their stories I would definitely used a Tracked or Signed courier service.
