Any thoughts as why would suddenly ebay sales would do ZERO since start of February.
We have been closely monitoring our sales and since start of January 2025 sales are down. But they have now completely died as soon as February started.

Yes that’s certainly a factor of sorts.
I also sell garden equipment & spares which I normally start adding to eBay in spring when people start cutting their lawns etc. and break their mower…!
Obviously repairing something to keep it going (assuming they have the technical skills to do so, something else which is on the decline!) is a far cheaper option than throwing it away and buying new.
Previously when the economy was struggling we did very well with parts, as well as second hand and refurbished units (unique to eBay), although I don’t sell refurb now because of the amount of time required to build them doesn’t make them profitable.
I have some test stock to load in spring (parts), if that doesn’t go well then I’ll be taking a break.

The horrible new policy of payments and fees since Feb 4th has impacted on buyers as well as sellers.
My sales have also gone to zero since then.

Time to register correctly as a business seller. Then your customers wont pay the fees.
You are replying to business sellers on the business seller boards so you wont get a lot of support from those who are correctly registered.

Hi, I don't quite get the connection between business sellers and private sellers; do they not face the same restrictions? Thanks for any additional info.

@typo_lee wrote:"So this is a wider problem in my opinion ie. the economy and people scared they are going to lose their jobs come april!"
On my website, sales are up with lock down numbers. One of my best ever Dec - Feb quarters.
So there are customers and money out there. (when they can find the product)
My decision to take a calculated risk last April by closing the eBay shop and reducing listings to concentrate on Website PPC ads and you-tube sales is paying off.
Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith
I have a note above my work laptop to keep reminding me something when it comes to business strategy and planning.
Yesterday you said tomorrow. Just do it !

Boom, boom ... 😜

I dont deny some people have not money but alot of people haven't got spare cash. You only have to look at the OBR and GDP figures. Virtually stagnant even though the government likes to spin it that 0.1% GDP growth is wonderful! I really am glad your booming but it depends on your sector I guess. High end car manufacturers always do well as they sell to the very wealthy however if your selling non essential items that people will be cutting back on its a different story.

Yes that is very much the truth, when I started on here it was the place to go and people including me would sing the praises of eBay from the highest steeple. It was when they invited all the corporates on board I think the rot started to set in.
Then sellers couldn't leave Neg Feedback, totally devaluing the system, prices were hiked to 10% and they haven't stopped since so now if I sell overseas it's 17%.
Stealth charges like 10% on P&P, a £1 transaction fee etc etc.
Then they ditched the PayPal link so they now have full control over every aspect of a sale (Big Brother).
I won't even go into the destructive disaster and results of Promoted Listings.
It's simply not very attractive on here anymore, for buyers or for sellers, and the only way I can see it improving is if they totally roll back on most of their policies from the last 10-15 years which have been so harmful and are now coming back and biting them in the backside.

Hi , have to agree this February is bad ! Can you advise what other platforms you use ? I sell childrens clothes and baby equipment and need to find other platforms. Thank you

Yes. I sell cheap second hand cd singles on average for £2.99, since this farce and con of a buyer protection charge it ups the price by nearly half. Sales dropped off a Cliff. Let’s hope they see a lack in buyers and do something about it. It feels like they are now just gearing towards the companies that sell stuff and no longer interested in the people that made the company what it is (or was) . Change it now back to someth8ng more sensible

Was just in the middle of listing 500 D/1 bubble envelopes on my business account......then stopped.......too much hassle, deleted.

I've never sold anywhere else, never wanted to. But I'm not prepared to stay here and get railroaded either.
I've been looking but my options but nothing really grabbed me.
If they back down in certain areas I may consider staying, but I won't be doing what I was before. No way am I going to feed a beast that destroys us all. If it works here, the next big thinkers on the next platform will also copy it and so on and so forth and all that will be left is a tide of s**t.

Same here. I’m shutting for two weeks beginning of March. But selling else where - may keep those up.
eBay’s had its day
15-02-2025 5:20 AM
I’ve had 3 sales this week on the river . On eBay two sales.
15-02-2025 5:23 AM
Same hardly any sales. £21.00 I earned today and with the fees postage etc it’s dropped to -24p
15-02-2025 6:46 AM
Its flatlining. Go elswhere eBay is no longer a viable option for private buyers.

I thought this would be the one board where the fake 'private' sellers would keep their heads down but it seems not! They must either be incredibly ignorant or have a death wish.
A thread where properly registered business sellers are discussing a drop in sales is not the place for the illegally registered 'private' sellers to post, even if they are experiencing the same drop.
They should stick to the general selling board.
