February Sales Dead 2025 - Ebay Sales Completely Dead

Any thoughts as why would suddenly ebay sales would do ZERO since start of February.

We have been closely monitoring our sales and since start of January 2025 sales are down. But they have now completely died as soon as February started.

Interesting though Vinted expanded their categories over the last week. I
mainly deal in action figures and TV and film memorabilia. The former has
had a category for some time. The latter only in the last few days. Makes
it easier to put my stuff on there now.

You have this spot on ! And it's no coincidence, ebay has made a big
mistake it's whether they can realise their mistake? Say sorry and reverse
their biggest *bleep* up yet?

Has anyone else found that the new eBay processes have completely killed off my sales?

I mostly sold smaller items with a relatively smaller shipping price. I had 100% feedback rating and I don’t understand the reasoning for this new way of working (apart from making eBay more money).

It’s almost like being blackmailed into using eBay’s system for shipping, if I do then it will sometimes charge three or four times what Royal mail postage costs, so nobody will buy or send by post and have my mail sat in eBay’s bank account for a month, even if the buyer has left positive feedback.
also eBay are double dipping, they’re charging the buyer a fee for “buyer protection” and keeping our money in case there is a problem. In which case they will give refund from our held monies. So what’s the Buyer Protection fee for?
I feel pretty fed up at the moment

Alot of us are "fed up".

& considering the Money Back Guarantee is still advertised on every listing I checked and it's advertised by eBay as a separate entity to BPF it's more than double dipping.

We have a free protection, a mandatory paid one and the seller fees are held.

I stopped listing before 4th February. I won't play Guinea Pig for anyone and when I saw the original announcement I thought they looked bad, especially Simple Delivery. So I've been here, watching and learning instead.

& in truth, eBay have actually managed to surprise me. It's actually worse than I thought.

I wasn't expecting them to block users from the app and the new offer system is akin to the Sistine Chapel of corporate mistakes.

I did keep watching my bookmarks though, stuff that I buy for personal reasons. Alot of markets took a nosedive after this upgrade started.

Someone has just finished the third relisting of an auction I was watching. The first time it sold for £49, second £43, yesterday £31. It's a set of near mint Hanwags Banks hiking boots that have normal RRP north of £200. Even second hand they "would" have been normally selling in the £80-£120 bracket before.

& I forget if it was the first or second auction for the above. But on the last day of one of them was when their parent category was added into BPF. So the buyers got a sudden jump in price.

If eBay survive this rollout I will be very, very surprised. They actually created 3 platform killers in a single rollout.

Business sellers are pretty much the same as private on there, except for one or two things, such as having money held for a couple of weeks.  But otherwise, it's pretty similar.

Business sellers have legal obligations such as they have to offer remorse returns, private sellers do not have to accept returns.

Business sellers on average are paying around 15% FVF (inc VAT) , private sellers do not pay any FVF fees !

There are 2 very big differences between private and business sellers !

"I don't quite get the issues with search on ebay, I can honestly say that I've never had an issue with it.  I can usually find what I want pretty quickly."

I think it would be more accurate to say that you can find some of what you want pretty quickly, depending on what you are searching for.  Look for something mundane like a Brand New White Shirt and the search will show you a thousand or more, but you won't be shown all the white shirts that are for sale.  Admittedly not much of a problem.

But try searching for something more obscure or rare and it's common for the search to tell you "No exact matches found",  but much lower down the page all too often there are exact matches to be found, hidden beneath hundreds of "similar" items that are nowhere near a match (exact or otherwise) but are Sponsored.

Far too often I've been told by ebay's search that there are none for sale on ebay, but google can find them.

You can see what I mean by looking no further than "Walther & Sohne Art Deco Glass" (UK Only).  The weird prices, the declining number of listings and the falling sales.

My sales have fallen off a cliff (down 100%) except the items which haven't had the new fees applied until they relist. Ebay doing their best to drive away private sellers. Do ebay not realise they need both private and business sellers to accomadate buyers preferences. As both a buyer and seller I wouldn't like to buy an item with fees added. I fully understand ebay need to make a profit so what was wrong with the old system of the seller paying final sales costs which they could factor into the bid/sell price as business sellers do. Then everyone is on a level playing field and the buyer isn't irritated by add on fees. When we buy goods from high street stores all their running costs are built into the retail price. Ebay seem to have lost the selling plot!

Would you now like to go back and read what I was actually talking about?

Talk about taking out the smallest thing to hit me back with!

I'm well aware of those differences, but I was not talking about costs as anyone with more than an ounce of common sense could see!  Just comparing how the sites work!

OP have you ever thought that maybe it is the items you are selling, or possibly your prices? Not saying this is the case, just a question. I ask because I have sold 11 items in February. My sales have being pretty steady, and i'm a new seller. I have not promoted anything either, I won't give e-bay more fees.

Hi everyone, its not double dipping it is treble dipping, they take you for a mug every time, Here is an Example, sold a brass cooker socket the buyer had no sales Zero, Zilth, Zarda, sales or purchases the t***** opened a case stating that the item was not as described, I contacted eBay to sort this out and to my amazement they took the buyers side, all the item specifics are on the listing but seem to not give a dam about this situation, He stated that they "were not brass" and I lost over £15 pound and they have a cheek to charge me VAT on the return postage.

This place is now getting worse as how can a buyer "with no history" Screw a seller that has been on this platform for over 20 years!!!  With ebay believing him over me. This is just corporate greed with nowt taken out. If this was done to them they would not like it.   😡

Since this has happened I have had no sales.

I’m not in the other E but on Depop since nearly the start. Sold more money wise on there this week than eBay for 2 months.  But have different items on there.

I dropped from level 2 store. To level

1 store and hardly any sales. I cannot afford a store anymore.
unless you live in the USA their premium  store costs around $59.95 and they get 10,000 free listings.

Was a whole lot better 10 years ago. I’ve been on eBay since 1998. When it was advertised on the back of an antique collectors magazine.

Money grabbers that’s all eBay are now to me. Already telling me to put my prices down. I can’t afford eBay at all now. Went down to the basic  store. Used all the 250 free listings as I have over 945 and getting charged 12p a time now.
I’ve had enough but there’s nowhere else for me to go as looked already on V, River (sales dried up there too) F, De pop (doing ok), and that’s it.

I opened an account on E...T...S...Y... a couple of years ago intending to sell on there, but I read the terms where they make make off site ads mandatory on top of the regular fees, and felt so much disgust at those particular terms that I never listed anything and walked away.

They are an absolute disgrace of a company, and customer support is just AI automation.

I haven't had payouts from them for over 2 weeks now, contacted them and they said there was an issue with the payment system, after 2 weeks there's still an issue?! Didn't think to tell their customers that then?

The icing on the cake is they don't review or protect any seller feedback if its missuse or falsely given, they couldn't give a damn.

They paid me out on the Tuesday just gone. As they have being every Tuesday. (I choose weekly payouts.) So can't say I agree with you there. Customer support is hard to talk to an actual person I would agree.

I have one bad feedback, from a guy who had an address not found by the post so the item was returned. I would agree that ebay don't seem to care to remove the feedback. I asked, and was denied.

Overall Ebay has being good for me. Just made a sale as I was typing this. Being making a sale almost everyday since I started selling. As long as you don't expect too much from customer support as a seller I have had little to complain about. Dead February? Not for me.

My issue was with Etsy, as I was replying to a previous comment about them. They told me on Tuesday funnily enough that they were having problems with the payout system.

Ebays customer service in my experience far exceeds Etsys.

Ah sorry I misread. So my comment doesn't really apply to Etsy. Whom I have tried, and found to be a complete joke.
