We are a business seller with most of our listing on other platforms. However we still have big chunk of our listings on Ebay platform. Ebay has been dead for us for over few months. Sales reach minimum 1-2 per day out of 100s of listings.
What has gone wrong with our once best platform. I know other platforms are doing really well but what has caused issues with Ebay.

eBay has shafted everyone. You'd think the suits want the company to bust.

eBay, in its efforts to rid the platform of private sellers, presumably because of onerous seller reporting conditions placed on it by HMRC, has managed to p155 off everyone, private and business sellers, in one fell swoop. I no longer sell. As a private seller, I turned over £1000 last year selling vintage toys, trainers, and whatever else I had, but now having to wait over a week for my money after posting items is taking the p155, and I'm not prepared to do it. The whole debacle is a fraudster's charter. I'm surprised the company hasn't collapsed.

Hello all.
Since my last post (16.03.25) I have tried increasing my paid for ads to 15%. That's up from 8%. Have I had any success in generating more sales? No.
As a business seller not only am I having to pay increased fees, but to get any sales whatsoever I'm having to pay for ads which in return are generating nothing. Complete net Zero!
New listing views sit at zero with zero sales. Items what were selling 10+ units per day now sit at zero and have done so for weeks.
My question to eBay is, do you want to retain business sellers who sell in volume, or do you favour private sellers who sell small volumes?
Another issue I've come across is when buying postage via eBay, the payment always came out of my bank. It was the same for each and every label purchased.
Now when purchasing postage labels eBay puts my account in a negative balance and waits for me to pay the balance manually. They wont charge my bank account!
I would much rather have eBay charge my bank for each and every postage label, at least that way I know everything has been paid upfront and nothing is owed.
I have spoke to customer service who tell me the balance is charged to my eBay account, and if the balance sits at zero then they charge the bank. This however is not true as they wait for me to pay them. Just like in the old days.
I think im nearing the end with eBay as high business seller fees plus zero sales are causing me nothing but losses. To add to the injury Royal Mail have increased prices from 7th April.

Same here. Ebay has gone staggeringly sporadic. 28 sales one week, 3 the next. Strong sales with low 11.5% ad budget, sales completely stop when I up it to 20%. Close to zero seller protection. Free selling for individuals, rocketing costs for businesses.
It's completely lost its way and I'm leaving, sorry.

Someone who I know who is closely connected with a number of ebay staff told me recently that ebay has completely lost it's direction - late last year they decided to try to make it back to the "car boot sale of the internet" because Amazon is now heavily outperforming them in new product sales.
Hence they made it free for private sellers. Then they realised they were haemorrhaging money with the loss of all those final value fees, so they slapped on the "buyer protection fee" (just a listing/FV fee on top of your price that you pay for in decreased sales due to higher prices to the buyers) which has pushed all the private prices up and made them all the prices look bizarre / ali express-esque, like the item is coming from China.
So private sellers like me converted to Business accounts. But now they're completely neglecting Business sellers and de-prioritising their listings to favour private sellers in an attempt to make this "car boot sale of the internet" thing work. They can't go back on the failed changes without losing face, so they're just compounding error on top of error.

I am a seller, and have been for over 20 years with eBay. eBay is now dead in the water! I can't sell anything anymore due to the ludicrous changes they have made. I'm still waiting on a payment, eBay has held back for nearly two weeks, which is a substantial amount. I wanted to use that money for an eBay item purchased, but I've lost the chance, because it's been sold, 4 days after I made a big sale on a single item.
The fact they are charging buyers for the privilege of buying, calling it something it's not, and now they are penalising the seller again by restricting postage to a si called "simple delivery", which is anything ,but simple. I have had to reduce the prices of my sales to offset the charges to buyers, but it still makes the buyer think they are paying a so called "protection fee"!
I've had it with eBay. I'll keep my account open, for buying, if Amazon fails at anytime, and I'll sell items for collection only, for now.
I give eBay a couple of years and I think it will be gone altogether. They have also stopped the "agent chat lines", which were useful. You now have to phone and wait!
eBay ....BUCK UP!!
