How important is gender to you?

Passports and driving licences should not state if the holder is male or female because it causes problems for transgender people, a Conservative MP has said.

Maria Miller, who chairs the women and equalities committee, said the government should “strip back” talking about gender unless it was necessary.

A person’s gender was not relevant on official documents and created an unconscious bias in job and university applications, she said.

At a time when Girls already outperform Boys academically, why do we need to deny our gender? What is it with those obsessed with so called equal opportunity, do they intend to legalise performance enhancing drugs in order that males and females can race against each other, Should we abandon traditional dress in favour of gender neutral clothing and should men not also be allowed to give birth?

If you are comparing wanting to be a fighter pilot with changing your gender than you ARE missing the point.

It's not a career choice.

And how do you know how they perceive themselves? They might feel beautiful.

It's how you yourself perceive them, how others perceive them.

If someone is physically disabled and doesn't look perfect, should they also be denied to go out in daylight so not to offend the better looking people and to avoid ridicule? Should they hide who they are and what they look like so other people would feel more secure and comfortable within themselves?

What an outrage there would be if someone physically disabled were to be attacked and murdered. But in this case you almost blaming the guy for bringing it upon himself.....because he didn't look feminine enough.

I feel very sorry for people who have a problem but when you have a problem, there's no need to make it worse.

Someone mentioned the high rate of suicide amongst TG people and for those not making a successful transition I think they made the problems in their life worse.

Men who "look manly" would need a lot more than adding a couple of bits and chopping a few others off.

The good lookers amongst the TG community who've faced trouble and strife got that I think because of jealousy that they've achieved their goal and pulled it off.
