Mr Fishy and I have been married for 31 years today - wow! Sometimes
it feels as if we've never not known each other and other times our
wedding seems just the other day as I remember all the stuff we did
and the funny things that happened that day.
I remember when we left the reception in our car, Hubby opened the
driver's window as we both always do as soon as we get in, and as
we pulled away a slpodge of shaving foam that our friends had
decorated our car with came in the window and landed splat on
hubby's face! We had fish & chips in the Happy Eater on the way
to our first night in the Cotswolds 'cos we'd got hungry - heaven knows
how, the amount we ate at the reception! We went to the Lake District
and I swam in the lakes. Hubby tried to carry me over the threshold
of the church into the reception and my veil got caught in the door handle
and fell off, we both ended up in an undignified heap having a giggling
fit! All the Guides in my Guide Company came and made a guard of
honour and we had a little party for them when we came back.
Gosh, reminiscing - I've waffled on a bit!
Today, I think we're having fish & chips in the garden centre to celebrate!

Happy 31st anniversary to Mr and Mrs Fishy. Well done. Lovely to remember all the funny times! If I was still married it would have been 28 years this year....but I remember the day like it was yesterday.
Enjoy a lovely meal and a bottle of wine

Congratulations - you're only six years behind Mrs A. and me!
Your story brought back memories of our wedding - my Mother was rushed to hospital with appendicitis the night before, so she missed it, wife-to-be left home, slipped on an icy path and fell flat on her back in a white velvet cape (it was December), down to the hospital after the reception (still in wedding togs) then a honeymoon in Dundee at a B&B with no central heating and starched cotton sheets - we put the oil-filled radiator in the bed to warm it up!
Despite that (or because of it) we're still here and still talking...

Crikey xtf, very memorable! I think it is stuff like that that makes us who
we are though and often things that go a bit wrong make us stronger.

In between our marriage and the night do, we were to be found in Tesco, me with my flowers still in my hair and OH in his marriage suit buying dog food!!!! bet the people in the queue thought we were a pair of hippies

Your a couple of years ahead of me, we celebrated our 29th anniversary last month, you got me thinking about my wedding day too ...... the priest had a streaming cold & had a drip on the end of his nose he was also french & I had never met him before we went to the Yorkshire dales & had one night in a pub that did B & B & the rest of the week in little tent on a campsite ....... there was also a hosepipe ban at the time & we had to spend the whole week driving around in the car covered in lipsticked graffiti

Congratulations to Mr and Mrs F.
Have a wonderful evening and many more of them.
We had simple wedding, registery office back to mum and dads for reception in the garden for 40 people, a night in the pub where hubby worked, followed by a week staying with friends and helping them move house.
Just goes to show don't need to spend 30,grand to have a good time, We had a fabulous time with our friends and family,
one set of friends paid for us to stay in a very posh hotel for one night which was wonderful.
25 years last month

Happy Anniversary to the Fishys! Catching up with us (43 yrs). Like Captain I have been in Tesco in my wedding dress, but it was red velvet. (we WERE a pair of hippies!) We told all our friends to meet for drinks in a pub in the High Street after the wedding - most of them went to the wrong pub, and we ended up on the pier! Luckily everyone made it to the proper reception in the evening at my parents' house!
