Disregard the video. It didn't record what happened after clicking sign in.
This is another video with the sign in blacked out for security purposes.

Hi ryan.buyco, thanks for your post.
I'm unable to see the recording of your screen, you think you could take a screenshot instead to see if that works? If you could also please confirm the device you're using, the software version of your device, and the eBay app version, I'd be happy to take a further look for you.
Thank you,
Marco

It won't allow me to take screenshots on the login screen. Probably why it was also not recorded properly.
But what happens basically is, I start at the home screen when I open the app. There's a 'Register' and 'Sign in' buttons there. When I choose sign in, I'm taken to the sign in screen with a greeting and options below to sign in 'Use email or username', 'Sign in with Google', 'Sign in with Facebook', and 'Create an account' buttons. I use a google email so I can choose either 'Use email or username' or 'Sign in with Google'. After inputting my email and password, It takes me to the Sign in and security screen but inside it is just the ebay webpage just like opening it on a browser. Even clicking the sign in button there will just loop me back to the Sign in screen from the beginning.

I can only offer very limited help - hopefully, someone more knowledgeable can give more specific assistance.
Somewhere in Settings there should be options to change what happens when you open/sign in to the app.
I had exactly the same problem as you with a few apps including the eBay one. Every time I tried to sign in I was redirected to the mobile website. I did a bit of exploration around the app settings, and found that the app was configured to do this by default (something must have changed without my input, as previously the app did open). I was able to re-configure the default setting so that the app launched, and I was no longer taken to the mobile website.
It seems daft that any app would redirect to the mobile site, but there you have it.
I've just tried to replicate the issue with the B&Q app (can't try with the eBay one as my phone is Android 9 so their app no longer works) in the hope of telling you the steps, but I'm stuck.
What I did before was go to Settings > Apps and notifications > [select eBay from the list of apps] > Advanced > Open by default > Open supported links [options are Open in this app / Ask every time / Don't open in this app].
This is where I've hit a stumbling block. I thought that selecting 'Don't open in this app' would 'force' the app to redirect to the website, but when I tried it just now with the B&Q app, it opened as normal.
Still, if you're confident enough, it may be worth having a play with those options under 'Open supported links'. You can always change the settings back. I found my solution by experimenting a bit, and more or less stumbled upon it.
Like I said, hopefully another member can offer a proper working solution for you, but there should definitely be a way to change the app's default 'behaviour'.
Good luck finding the remedy.

Thanks for your reply, ryan.buyco.
I'll try flagging this with our tech team, but they might need a screen recording or a screenshot if at all possible. So, if you could get that in the meantime, I will appreciate it in case they cannot replicate the issue from their end.
Thank you,
Marco

I tried your suggestion but it didn't work.

I couldn't properly record a video because of the security of the app that prevents recording during log in. The same for screenshot. But I got a screenshot during the 'Sign in and security' page that I mentioned after the 'Sign in' part. That page should be the two factor authentication page since I have it on but instead I got the ebay website main page just like using a browser.

If you Google can’t sign into eBay app on android and click on videos there’s quite a few
this one says to clearing all data might work

I've already tried that before but it didn't work. Tried it again just now but still couldn't log in. I even went as far as reinstalling the app before but it didn't fix my problem.

I boot up my old phone, a Samsung Note 10+, and opened the eBay app. I logged out of that device to see if it was causing the problem being logged in on another device. But out of curiosity, I tried to log back in after that and I had the same issue with it just like my new phone. I opened eBay on my computer to disable two factor authentication then tried logging in on the phone app but I still had the same problem.

Well, I did pretty much say that it might not, but I think I was in the right ballpark with those app settings, hence my suggestion that you play around with them a bit.
P.S. You're welcome!

Try clearing cache and data in the app as in that video
then uninstall the app
then clear cache and data on your phone, then power off and on phone
then reinstall it
(probably won’t work but worth a try)
there must be a techy board somewhere on the internet where someone will know exactly what the problem is
infuriating really as you have an up to date phone

This happened when I tried signing in after resetting my phone and re installing my ebay app.
Solution I found that worked for me:
Setting > Apps > Special app access > Notification read, reply & control > Pixel Launcher > See all apps > Notification > Apps shown on devic > Ebay (uncheck box).
Hope this helps someone in the same predicament.

I wanted to try your solution but ebay can't be found on my Notification Access and Notifications. It's probably because I reinstalled it on Google Play Store.

Hi @ryan.buyco,
I've just got an update on this, and unfortunately the team was unable to replicate the issue from their end. Based on your eBay app version, and device software, it should work ok. So, the team has asked me for a screenshot or screen recording to have better visibility on the issue and understand it better to help you get it resolved. I understand that you've said that you are unable to do this, if you still can't, I'd recommend you contacting our customer service team from here, so they can log a ticket for you.
Thank you,
Marco

I experienced the same issue on my Android device. Disabling the "Open Supported Links" option resolved the problem. After signing in, the "Sign in and Security" page no longer appears. Thank you!

I tried disabling it but it didn't work for me. I even tried disabling picture-in-picture after that but it's still the same. I was excited because I thought I could finally fix this. Thanks for sharing what worked for you though.

Try these steps:
Uninstall eBay.
Clear Play Store data & cache, then restart your phone.
Open Play Store and log in (it will update automatically).
Install eBay but don’t open it yet.
Clear eBay data & cache, and disable “Open Supported Links.”
Log in with your eBay username and password (avoid Google or Facebook login atm)

It's still the same problem. When the "Sign in and Security" page comes up, it just shows the ebay main page.
