"Modern" words?

Now and again I hear a couple of modern takes on words which are irritating (to me anyway).

First, when refering to a building or buildings they used to be also described as "premises". eg "business premises" whether referring to one or more.

Now I constantly hear them referred to as "premis" (or premise) eg, "Shop premis". It sounds uneducated to me?

Another word I hear all the time is "sellable". I suppose that word has been used for longer but it always used to be "saleable" (some spelling were salable).

You got any more words that seem to have been corrupted by modern life?

There are so many.Woman LOL

The one that really annoys me is "listen up" instead of just saying listen,  up what, what does it mean?.

Another stupid American saying that's found it's way over here.

Sorry CD but you have just demonstrated something that really grates with me.  Using the past tense of the verb ‘to get’ as a question.

’got a cigarette mate?”

Re: "Modern" words?

Oh dear. I think perhaps I should re-phrase it just for you?:-

I say old chap, would you have a selection of corrupted words in modern usage which gives rise to your ire? There, is that more to your liking?

Re: "Modern" words?

You did ask for words and/or usage that irritates; highlighting the misuse of ‘got’ is fair game.

Personally I don’t mind how anyone speaks - it is the written word which can be far more irritating, in my opinion.

Yes, I know what you mean and that is fair game. However, I'm trying to provoke a bit of posting so that's worthy of mention.
