"Modern" words?

Now and again I hear a couple of modern takes on words which are irritating (to me anyway).

First, when refering to a building or buildings they used to be also described as "premises". eg "business premises" whether referring to one or more.

Now I constantly hear them referred to as "premis" (or premise) eg, "Shop premis". It sounds uneducated to me?

Another word I hear all the time is "sellable". I suppose that word has been used for longer but it always used to be "saleable" (some spelling were salable).

You got any more words that seem to have been corrupted by modern life?

It's life Jim, but not as WE know it.

Re: "Modern" words?

I'm not trying to be unkind either but I find accents are more grating on the nerves than words.

People really hate mine because it is a mixture of Liverpudlian and Birmingham.Woman Sad

Not sure if you will get the one I personally feel is correct but here goes xx

If you are getting the first a women and the second a man's voice, the second the man's is about how I would pronounce it. xx

But thinking more about the subject, does it really matter. lol xxx we all have our own personal ways of doing things and to worry about who is right and who is wrong on how a word sounds is really very sad lol.  Fancy being irritated by someones pronunciation of a word. Woman Sad (i'm talking about myself here) Smiley Indifferent

Re: "Modern" words?

I want to punch all Footballers and Pundits

That say things like  "That should have been a PEN"

short for penalty - it's not as if it was a long word to start with

-------

Things are going to get worse - as the under 40s habit of using Text speak,

comes off their phones and into the off-screen world

My Daughter learned in quite a short time -

That I NEVER replied to her texts, if She used text speak

Re: "Modern" words?

I think text speak is another thing altogether, it really is annoying XXX

I have to admit though I have got a really bad habit of putting lol after a lot of my sentences, my sincere apologies if that really annoyes others.  It annoyes me when I read it back.  😣
