Re: Social Distancing

Hmm not sure how this would work.  Just had a phone call from the builders saying materials being delivered tomorrow and i will need to sign for them...and asked them IF we went into total lockdown say tomorrow will they still come on Wednesday?.....  he said YES.   Would they even be allowed to?

Re: Social Distancing

Yep, total morons. Teens have filmed themselves licking along lines of supermarket products and apparently a crowd were spitting at police who were guarding some incident somewhere, I think in Yorkshire yesterday.

Re: Social Distancing

So much for social distancing.

Out in the sun today and it was young people again acting like there's no problem. I was standing, watching the Ducks and a family of three came right behind me then stood a foot away from me. I walked away!

Then there were "the runners" who think everyone should get out of their way. One (quite young) lad ran past me and when he was about 15 feet away spit in the ground with another younger lad following. Two older ones were running behind shoulder to shoulder and made no attempt to keep well clear.

By the time I was heading home, I saw those same runners again but this time they were four abreast!!!

It's life Jim, but not as WE know it.

He CANNOT wait until the weekend...he has to do it now. People are dying. Your car and building work just don't matter while people are dropping like flies.

To be honest i do not think he will wait until the week end.  I said  i hoped it would not happen until the week end.

i am fully aware  what is going on  as i do not live in a bubble. Yes we do have a crisis but "dropping like flies" is surely a little bit of an over exaggeration in relation to the Uk at the minute.

With respect you do not know what is going on in our private life.   Your post has come across as snapping at me 😞

Re: Social Distancing

Thankfully the mortality rate is lower than I expected it to be. My husband and I have been following Coronavirus very carefully since late December. We both always thought there was more to this and still do - the spread is unusual, we noted the number of cases in Iran and Switzerland - WHY THESE? Two strange places for outbreaks to be exploding in volume! Iran maybe explained by a supposed trade connection with China which had set up companies inside Iran. But with Switzerland, the only link we could think of was skiing as I think early on a group had become confirmed cases after skiing somewhere - but not sure where it was now.

we have been using this site which is very informative and gives regular updates and graphs - but above all it's reliable.

The problem I think there is, is there is a wealth of information on the net and everyone has now become an expert.

Re: Social Distancing

Re: Social Distancing

My post was not 'snapping' at you....I was just being blunt. We all have individual problems that need addressing , but the fact is that in the scheme of things, no one of us is anymore important than others. We have to make sacrifices to save lives. The phrase 'dropping like flies' is not an exaggeration at all.How can you say that it is an exaggeration when hundreds of people, all over this world, are dying every day. It's going to be tough....very tough....but we have to beat this thing. I for one am very relieved that we have been ordered to stay at home. That is going to save many lives....possibly yours or mine.

Re: Social Distancing

Ok..well let me be blunt with you

Speak for yourself and not me.  Did i say anyone is more important that some else...of course not;

Again.....you know nothing about us or our current circumstances.   All i will say is....i would not wish them on our worst enemy.  I do not mean financially either...this is a matter of life or death so kindly back off.

I am trying NOT to share personal details BUT save to say....yes we do need our car.  We need it to travel so my hubby can give bone marrow urgently to save someones life.

Re: Social Distancing

I wouldn't dream of speaking for you, or anyone else. We all have different personal circumstances, and some, myself included , were very worried about being told to stay at home. I don't know your circumstances, as you don't know mine, but the fact remains that the lockdown is necessary and couldn't come soon enough in order to save thousands of lives. Boris Johnson himself spoke very bluntly when announcing the measure, indicating the seriousness of the crisis. Anyone wanting to postpone that measure was not working for the good of the country and the general population. No more to be said.

Your Wolves Team Doctor has Posted a very stark warning on Twitter regarding your Home Town as being a Coronavirus HOTSPOT @1956glyn

Re: Social Distancing

Not sure it was the Wolves doctor who called it a hot spot - think it was more the amount of deaths in both Wolverhampton and Dudley areas which is one of the highest outside London, being highlighted on the news.

'Just heard a very worrying thing. I'd been looking at the Diamond Princess death rate and could not understand why figure had changed? Discovered that the virus is still found on the ship 17 days after the event - that is very concerning and yes people who were on that ship are still dying!

I cannot believe we have not closed this country to planes arriving from Italy and Iran - they were still coming yesterday!!

Time to shutdown people, close the shutters and stay at home as long as you can.

Re: Social Distancing

That was the main Wolves fc Doctor yes.

To be honest i believe any large City will probably be a "hotspot" shortly.  Our population is 256.000 plus.

Various factors may come into play concerning us being a hotspot.......

There has been a lot of testing here.   We have had various mobile testing sites around the City so maybe our figures are more accurate than some parts of the county.

We have a huge Wolves fc fan base who follow our team around Europe.   If you know much about football you will also prob realise why there is no way our team should have gone over to Olympiakos recently to play.   Talk about high risk !

Plus in Dudley (about 8 miles for me) there was a church goer that was recently  infected and he has infected a lot of the congregation who apparently have infected a lot of others and this really boosted the figures for that area 😞

On the plus side.........Wolverhampton Wanderers FC are doing a load to try and protect us locals.

The owner has given a million plus towards trying to quickly find a vaccine (whoops not sure if that is public news at the minute but he has)

Plus he recently had a huge  truck load of protective equipment/clothing etc delivered to our local hospital for our front line staff.      That was just the first with a lot more help to follow.

He is doing a lot more and has done an awful lot to try and protect every employee of his  ...even to the point of posting protective masks to employees homes.

To be honest i not not sure why you felt the need to point out to me that my home town is a hotspot.

We have been fully aware of the Club Drs opinion for many weeks so nothing he says is of any surprise to us 🙂

Re: Social Distancing

I shall ask my son to look on twitter to see exactly what he said.  I do not know exactly what he said.

IF it is the same as what he posted on other Social media (a video  of himself talking) it was an appeal for people basically to be sensible and abide by all restrictions placed on their movement etc.    It was defo not scare mongering.

At that time he was just trying to do his bit....as Wolves have a very large fan base...to try and get through to people to do the right thing.
