How about an RT poll?
No reasons, no argument, no debate just a straightforward IN or OUT.
Me? OUT.

What I don't understand is if the polls are correct that the likely outcome will be very close why are the betting odds so wide apart?
You can get better than 2 to 1 against an exit vote whereas the best odds to stay are 3 to 1 on.

Opinion polls can be highly inaccurate as you know.
It's rare that a big enough sample is taken so most of them are just a hindrance to whatever they're polling about. OUT.

Brexit will help us create jobs, say 300 top business chiefs: Leaders say Brussels red tape 'stifles every one of the UK's 5.4million companies'
The value of British exports to the EU has plummeted by a fifth over the past decade, an analysis has found.
Leave campaigners last night said the figures – from the EU’s own statistics arm – proved the ‘failure’ of the single market.
Exports to the EU fell almost 20 per cent from 2006 to 2015 – a worse performance than any member state apart from Luxembourg.
Former director general of the British Chambers of Commerce, John Longworth, who was forced out over his pro-Brexit views, said: ‘There is no area of Britain’s EU membership that has over-promised and under-delivered quite as badly as the single market.
‘Instead of being the great engine of trade it was promoted as when it was launched in 1980s, it is now at best a mirage and at worst a source of stifling regulation that holds British businesses back at home and makes them less competitive in the world markets.

The polls are often inaccurate I agree - betting odds far less so.
In the Scottish referendum for example whilst the polls were suggesting the vote would be neck and neck the betting odds were 4 to 1 against an out result and odds on for stay - similar to the current position on the EU vote.
I guess far more people place bets than take part in polls.

because bookies have been exploiting the weaknesses of people for years and know that when the crunch comes and some backbone / courage and belief in their country is required, the days of people with the metal that they had in 1939 to 1945 are long gone...........the current brood are " better the devil you know " types.
16-05-2016 6:17 PM
Is it really a case of not having the metal more than a right to making ones choice based upon the evidence available. I for one will do whatever is necessary to protect this country and its traditions, that includes my right to make up my own mind, saying someone lacks metal is the kind of passive aggressive behaviour of a covert bully. Stating facts which may help influence my decision is entirely right, Robust defence of your position and dismantling of an opponent is fair play, simply shouting OUT adds nothing to the debate and that is what we lack in this referendum.
16-05-2016 6:44 PM
No ifs, no buts....still OUT. And more and more convinced with every day that goes by. And anyone who wants to protect this country's traditions would be well advised to vote out...because they are disappearing fast.

Better to repeat OUT than to keep repeating lengthy fors or againsts once your position has been stated?
I think the word you've been repeating should be mettle, not metal.

Thank you for the spelling lesson, I will try not to do it again. Meanwhile having exhausted the positives we once again offer up OUT to the conversation, perhaps the thread should have concentrated on the IN or OUT as you suggested way back, effectively ending the contributions after six or seven posts.

My original idea was for a poll, simply in or out but folks didn't want to stick to that so we won't be able to produce the opinion of the RT posters.
It's a shame we can't tap in to the thoughts of the RT lurkers because there's far more of them than there are posters.
Having now settled on a discussion, there's nothing wrong with discussing new points as they crop up or continuing to state one's chosen position, in or out in case someone has been swayed one way or another by the reasoned argument of the RT Literati.
