I hope it does. BUT her riival, for leadrership, has now got a cabinet post!  They are all off on holiday soon  amd I suspect nothing will be announced until least  September.

Sorry I am a cynic, but am willing to give Boris a chance, provided he remembers that GB is not just London

Re: Brexit never gonnae happen they way you think!

Perhaps people will now relax and take heart that BOEING has just done one of their biggest deals with the U.K....not at all put off by BREXIT! Not only building aircraft/helicopters but Britain will be their trading and maintenance base for Europe...with Scotland getting a slice of the action too...note Ms Sturgeon!

Now Australia is knocking on the door wanting to be first in line to make a trade deal ASAP...

USA ...who reckon we will be pushed into the back of the queue according to Obama ....will be seeking an audience to tie up Trident...that vote wasn't necessary yesterday...but it did slap the implications of ignoring us fairly in Obamas face...as well as giving Labour a 2 fingered salute!

And of course one of the biggest take over investments by the Japanese looks like going ahead!

This was of course predicted by a top economist in Singapore on BBC World News...just before the referendum...of course no one mentioned it because it was 'buried' in transmission at about 3am... The chap interviewed reckoned the Chinese would be hammering on the door as soon as article 50 was invoked...I reckon there are a lot of 'informal' talks already going on...the EU might just have to wait until we are ready to negotiate!

I reckon without the slow dithering 27 member states all arguing the toss over what they all want...and what they won't concede...Britain will achieve some scintillating trade deals that will be the envy of the EU states! Of course they will want IN with us...they will have to move some though...whilst they um and ah....everyone else will be 'sorted'...and they may well be the losers! Of course...by doing a deal with us...they may well ,by default, be utilising our free trade deals with countries outside the EU who haven't got deals in place with them yet...

i think the future is looking pretty good.....I wonder what's next...I don't think Boris and co will be having long holidays this year...not unless they are going to talk trade at the same time!

I'm trying to see how deals to buy planes from the US, make a deal with Australia to buy their foodstuffs, spend billions on a US weapon and a Japanese takeover of one of our biggest and most important electronic companies is all good for the UK - I'm failing I have to say!

Re: Brexit never gonnae happen they way you think!

I think talk of what the grass roots of any party is only valid if it encompasses all those who favour a particular stance. Corbin is popular among activists but far less amongst those needed to put him in power. May has to deal with a similar problem in her party because a few have never accepted the original will of the people way back.
We have chosen a path and we must follow it however as a democracy we need an effective opposition to challenge the Government. There are factions determined to stop that with talk of red tories and Blairites, but sadly that is leading to a fight for the right to the Labour Brand, if that is taken by the far left I cannot see them ever coming to power.

What about the £167,000,000 a week we paid for this free trade deal or does that not matter.

So what do you want to do,buy some obsolete planes from US and start chucking Aus banana's at the refugees out the windows! The ones that you sold their bosses the planes and bombs to? I'm sure they'll not want for a few free banana's eh hungry after all, better than dodging bombs.

Re: Brexit never gonnae happen they way you think!

You are obviously in ignorance of the deal...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-36763212

http://www.cnbc.com/2016/07/11/uk-government-announces-new-deals-with-boeing.html

This will provide RAF Lossiemouth with a training, maintenance and overhaul base creating 100 jobs plus creating around 2000 jobs in total throughout UK. It will give a welcome boost to other businesses in supplying Boeing too! £3-4 billion ...You think that is BAD? Farnborough was a tremendous success for the Aerospace industries here in the UK!

"Boeing has doubled its UK workforce and more than doubled its annual spending with the UK supply chain over the last five years to more than 2,000 people and £1.8bn respectively in 2015."

Our import/export market with Australia suffered under the EU. We had very buoyant trade with Australia before we ditched the Antipodes for Europe. Our trade with them will be boosted by unfettering us from the EU...as well as New Zealand. Plus...we know there are other leaders having informal talks...as we are still in the EU and cannot officially open trade talks with anyone! Does ANYONE think nothing is going on until we invoke Article 50.... As the article about Boeing states, the biggest spenders are going to be the Asian emerging markets...that's where the big money will come from...China and India have already staked a claim at the table for trade talks...

As for the Japanese deal...I was not commenting on whether it's good or bad for the company to become a Japanese controlled one...but it just shows that Brexit is not scaring off investment! If a company is worthy of investment...it will attract it! We shall see more investment as the £ is very attractive at the moment...not good for tourists but foreign investment will provide much needed jobs!

We are a great nation...not a puny satellite of the EU... We have always had a very individual way of doing things which is why we haven't sat easily in Brussels. We could have achieved far more if we had come out a lot earlier. Anyone who thinks we are dead ducks in the water will be eating their words...I think it's sad and tragic that they have so little belief in their nation's capabilities..,and by default...themselves...and their fellow Brits... You can sit on your hands and moan ....or ....get off your rear end and make this opportunity work!

Stop criticising every bit of positivity....

Re: Brexit never gonnae happen they way you think!

Whatever ones view is it should be possible to consider all angles and how Brexit might affect in a positive or negative way people from all backgrounds. I have never understood those activists who, despite being in the minority, will go to any extreme to achieve their goal. Groups like the SWP , EDF, NF, STWar, CND, and a number of others are fringe yet they turn up all over the place with their caustic and raucous methods of bullying. You never see them present a case in a manner which is clear concise and worthy of debate.
On here we often get questions posed against individual comments which attack firstly the individual then if we are lucky the credibility or otherwise of their comment.
A challenge is not necessarily a denial of a view it simply seeks an opportunity to explore said view.

Re: Brexit never gonnae happen they way you think!

I still query the Boeing deal - just read the headline figures from the links you gave -  the UK will pay Boeing £3 billion pound for 9 aircraft - in return Boeing are investing £100 million pounds in a new facility to repair and maintain aircraft - this will create 2,000 new jobs.

None of this due to the Brexit decision but in spite of that decision.

I will be more convinced that Brexit won't damage our international trade when you start quoting deals where countries are buying products from us that they weren't prior to our decision to exit the EU - I genuinely hope our politicians make a success of our exit but am not overly confident in their ability to do so.

Re: Brexit never gonnae happen they way you think!

Not sure what your implying, but let start by said posters comments below for starters. Yes I'm all for trade deals, but not at a absorbitant inflated prices/cost to us.Where's the exports in these deals that brexiteers are now putting claim too? Most just in a few weeks are all imports and a takeover ,most i might add were set in motion long before brexit-some even before brexit was even thought of!

Don't be tarring me with any brush with extreme groups like above, unless your trying to imply SNP is a extreme group? If that's so,expect rath in abundance from me.I have a right for my country, just like any country to determine their own rule. I've no wish to be associated with NF UKIP or Tories. I find it abhorrent that someone who may live in a different country from me would think i would need to toe their party line.

I find nothing wrong with the SNP desire or goal

Constitution:

To be in the driving seat of our own destiny and to shape our own future is a natural desire. It is what we all hope for ourselves and it is what the SNP believes is right for Scotland. We will achieve independence only when a majority of our fellow citizens are persuaded that it offers the best future for our country. Our success will depend on the strength of our arguments and the clarity of our vision. So, starting this summer we will undertake new work to persuade a majority of the Scottish people that independence is the best future for our country.

I know what i want. I've been living and working most of my life across Europe.INTEGRATING AND WORKING with whatever country i was in as part of a UK military. Due to medical reasons i found myself surplus to requirements, yes that's what the call it. Best part of twenty years and cast aside like a piece of trash.

Don't get me even started in talk about military cuts over the past 30 years, but we find 30-50 billion for a weapon of mass destruction that no sane person will ever use. Faslane could be a vast military base of conventional, peacetime and maritime support ,search and rescue port, which would be the envy the world over. Jobs, jesus, they'd be 100's thousands created for the west coast of Scotland and UK. No we have a few daft subs with pointless weapons, a paltry most probably 8000 local jobs that was the figure touted during the farse of a remain camp manifesto during indy 1.

Trust me if all we as UK have to export is services and a few high end tech company products-we're in serious trouble and will export nothing but morris dancers outfits!! just for the comedy factor.

Re: Brexit never gonnae happen they way you think!

You miss the point as usual. The point of the EU is to trade free with 500 million pop and 27 countries tariff free nearer to home. That accounted for around half our exports! We already trade with Non EU like USA and China and other countries but with tarriffs in most commodities for the other half.To bin nearly half your trading partners and set up new individual deals is just madness IMHO.Not to mention the increased tension, conflicts in trade with numerous new trade laws that will need to be set up now for former EU partners.

There's hundreds of laws now that will need to be repealed and new ones set up. I asure you it will be messy and most of the brexiteers will be long gone to their barbados villas before most get completed. It's a mess with no plan. You know the old saying "Fail to plan, plan to fail"

Brexiteers claims of setting up all these tremendous trade deals with countries outside the EU is folly,we already do it and have been doing it for hundreds of years.

Re: Brexit never gonnae happen they way you think!

Yes the point is free trade but at a price, many rightly believe the lack of democratic accountability is unacceptable, those in business also find the red tape imposed by the EU to be a step too far, so who is right, not the canny Scots who were doing no more than stirring the pot and trying to protect the endless EU handouts to underpin a lacklustre economy. If only they would apply the creativity shown in a constructive unselfish way then the outlook would be far brighter.

Re: Brexit never gonnae happen they way you think!

Let me explain it slowly.

27 countries in EU not including us.

Out of the 27 only 3 are our main export partners which are Cyprus, Denmark and Ireland.

But it's very telling how Germany is the main export partner for most apart from a couple which makes the EU a very nice earner for Germany.

http://europa.eu/about-eu/countries/index_en.htm

Click on each countries name starting from Austria-Sweden and see who is making money out of all this EU free trade deal nonsense.

It might have escaped your attention or you might not be old enough to remember but we were around and did very well before all this EU nonsense and will be around and do very well once it's gone mamarries up.

NO MATTER HOW MUCH SOME OF OUR CITIZENS WISH OTHERWISE.

Re: Brexit never gonnae happen they way you think!

Scotland propped up the UK coffers for the past 40 years with oil. Money that was squandered to defeat coal and steel industries amongst many. Think you should read the McCrone report and that'll tell what should have been done instead of usual money men/women in high society and UK parliment, robbing natural resources of other coutries. But hey that's what the UK are good at commercial plunder aka, pillaging.

Re: Brexit never gonnae happen they way you think!

Omg not that old chestnut again, next news we will be talking about the Scots decimating the lowly Herring as fleets of drifters chased huge shoals Down The East coast of Britain until they were fished out.  There were great Scottish coal fields which condemned many a Scot to an early grave, but so too in England and Wales. There is the abandonment of workers at Faslane in pursuit of an ideal, the huge beurocracy of the Scottish Parliament because 55 MPs is not enough to represent 5 million people. The only people to profit from a break up of the U.K. are those who seek to profit from its demise, that won't be Scots, Welsh or English.
