Older iPads need access to the eBay app.

App not working, says update and won't. Just stuck in a loop of trying to update and it saying it has the latest version. Whatever you did put it back the way it was

Re: Older iPads need access to the eBay app.

An eBay Community Manager has posted this information for app users.

The latest eBay app version is no longer compatible with android 9 and below. It actually requires OS android 10 and above. If you have another device with android 10 and above you can check the most recently updated eBay app version and see if you can view images.

If you are using OS android 10 and above and still have issues with viewing images on the app please let me know. State what version you use and type of device and I'll have it looked into further by tech.

Re: Older iPads need access to the eBay app.

According to a post on the UK community boards, the latest version of the eBay app requires Android 10 or later, or iOS 17 or later.

https://community.ebay.co.uk/t5/Technical-Issues/Pictures-missing-using-APP/m-p/7762881/highlight/tr...

There is another version of the app available for iOS 16 users; see here:

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Mobile-Apps/How-to-update-your-eBay-app/m-p/34920437#M50572

If you cannot upgrade your operating system or find an older version of the app that works with your current operating system, you should still be able to use a browser to go to ebay.co.uk instead.

If eBay browser links are opening in the Android version of the app automatically, you can disable that by going to your device Settings: Apps: eBay: Open by default: Opens supported links and choosing "Don't open in the app". iOS users can tap and hold an eBay browser link and choose "Don't open in the app".

Re: Older iPads need access to the eBay app.

I’ve found a way round this on my iPad with iOS 15

Open the eBay app

Ignore the Box saying ‘Exit’ or ‘Update’

Press the home button to go back to the main screen

Go to eBay in Safari

Click the ‘Open in eBay App’ button at the top

If it doesn’t work the first time, go back to Safari and try again

Re: Older iPads need access to the eBay app.

Amazing.

I have followed your instructions to the letter on my home iPhone SE iOS 15.8.3 and lo and behold, the app now works.

On my second identical work phone, I went to Safari settings and cleared history and website data first. Launched Safari, went to eBay, and logged in… Then the app automatically opened.

Buddy, I can't thank you enough.

You have prevented me from getting into debt by dropping £300 on an iPhone 13 mini.

Re: Older iPads need access to the eBay app.

Safari is the built=in web browser from Apple, i.e. their version of Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge

@james23011985

A possible workaround for iOS 15 users is suggested here:

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Mobile-Apps/App-update-fix-for-ios15-users/td-p/34924192

If you cannot upgrade your operating system or find an older version of the app that works with your current operating system, you should still be able to use a browser to go to ebay.co.uk instead.

If eBay browser links are opening in the non-working app, iOS users can tap and hold an eBay browser link and choose "Don't open in the app". Or delete the app.

Re: Older iPads need access to the eBay app.

Really strange..........Because my ebay app wouldn't work i deleted it from my phone but then all of a sudden today my ebay app reappeared on my iphone and promptly started to work as normal without any intervention from me.......how weird is that.

Re: Older iPads need access to the eBay app.

That is weird.

Possibly you may have some sort of cloud-based app backup? That might have noticed that you no longer had the eBay app installed and re-installed it for you, and it happened that the latest version worked better than the last version you had.

Re: Older iPads need access to the eBay app.

This is crazy, I don't want to have to buy a new iPad because of an ebay update issue - it's no use trying to use ebay through Google, the pages take forever to open and it's way too slow. Eay need to sort out this mess or customers will be going elsewhere pronto.
