What is Windows Hello?

When logging on to ebay on my desktop I start with the username screen. I input my username and hit enter

This then brings up the password screen. I input my password and hit enter.

At this point I should be at my ebay summary page. However, more times than not, I am sent to a third screen that says:

Simplify your sign-in

Use Windows Hello to sign in with your PIN, face or fingerprint.

I am quite happy to use name and password so click on Skip for now. This screen is just an annoyance and does anyone know how to kill it off completely.

The main problem is knowing where the extra screen come from. I appreciate that it may not be one introduced by ebay but it is some "enhancement" that Microsoft has inflicted on us. Does any know anything about this?

What is Windows Hello?

It’s a nag screen from eBay, as they want you using (supposedly) more secure features. (Yes, Microsoft is to blame as well. In the same way as Google is, for those annoying “Sign in” messages when you go to some new website that uses Google’s login API.) You can’t get rid of it, unless you sign up for Windows Hello.

If you’re technically savvy, then there are options for automating clicking the “Skip for now”. But in my experience, as someone who is technically savvy, those solutions can take more time to implement than they are worth. And if you’re not technically savvy, they come fraught with risks.

What is Windows Hello?

I got stuck with this today. Logging into my payments page and given a screen prompting me to use windows hello and the skip button just has me enter my password and pops the windows hello prompt back again

This need to stop, I will be contacting support over this. Windows hello is not more secure than a complex password with 2FA and it's popping up for me on my computer that doesn't even use windows so the option is not available even if I wanted to reduce my security by using it
